So I picked up one of these yesterday and I'm really looking forward to using it at band practice this week.
I have been a long time proponent of the FRV-1. I have been using it for years, but over those years I would get a little less enamoured with it as time went on.
I tried out the oceans 11 briefly and so far I think it sounds decent. I think I can get some use out of the spring, hall, plate, shimmer, reverse and dynamic modes. maybe even the poly mode. Obviously I really like the spring mode - it sounds on par with my boss and *hopefully* less ice picky.
I'm on the fence if I should sell the boss or not.
Looking forward to trying the EHX out in a band setting and seeing if it is an improvement over the boss.

I've been very happy with mine. In fact I like that now there is a mixed set with the Canyon Delay and with the new Mod 11 or whatever it's called. Same size and somewhat same instructions.
I have never played the Boss unit except for the RV-5 which I didn't like at all.

Re: EHX Oceans 11 Reverb
Got an Oceans 11 earlier in the year and finally got round to sticking it on my board a couple of days ago. Anyone else find it crazy bright?? I only use Spring setting, and if I bring the tone up past 8/9 o’clock it’s basically unplayable! I tried it when it first arrived and can’t remember it sounding so bad, so not sure what’s happening haha. I’ve got an AO JM and my amp is a Hot Rod Deluxe.

I've had this for about a year now.
The "kick" in the spring doesn't work anymore for some reason.
I like that most presets also have a freeze function, saves me from getting the freeze pedal.
The dyna is probably my fave.
So much was packed into this unit, makes me want to check out the Mod11 too.

Try holding down the mode button to go into secondary functions and turning down the preamp drive that is on the same dial as the tone. That should tame it down a little possibly.Mondaysoutar wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:14 pmGot an Oceans 11 earlier in the year and finally got round to sticking it on my board a couple of days ago. I've never used that "kick" function and it sounds artificial so I wouldn't miss it. I do want to check out the Mod11 too ... in fact I have two modulation pedals, a Corona Chorus and a NUX multi-mod pedal that I would sell off to get the Mod11. I keep the two because the Corona is the best at chorus and the NUX has such a wealth of effects but I'm certain the Mod 11 would beat it in a fighting match.burntumber wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 8:20 pmI've had this for about a year now.

I thought about the Canyon but it seems to me there is somewhat of an overlap between the Oceans 11 and the Canyon on some settings. And although I crave reverb , I'm not a big fan of delay, except for a simple slapback sound.

Yeah, I turned it down using the secondary function man and it’s definitely made a bit of a difference. I’m always like this with new pedals, takes me forever to get on with them haha.soggy mittens wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:12 pmTry holding down the mode button to go into secondary functions and turning down the preamp drive that is on the same dial as the tone.
