NGD Jazzmaster Hybrid MIJ Sherwood Green
I recently posted about 7.25 vs 9.5 necks, and ordered a 9.5 to see how it compares to my 7.25. It just arrived and she’s a beaut. I was fortunate to get my hands on a Sherwood Green MIJ Hybrid, a small amount of these were brought into my country, and surprisingly this one cost less than a Vintera JM!
It has some interesting features – vintage style locking tuners, which essentially clamp the strings as you tighten. Comes stock with US pickups, I've had the covers off and they are wound taller than the AV65 pickups. I think the pots might be full size CTS, but won’t know for sure until I take the pick guard off next string change. The bridge is updated from vintage style, and it’s a rocking bridge rather than fixed like the mastery. Although it doesn’t rock as much as a traditional bridge. Either way, I’ve wrapped electric tape around the posts to stop the rocking. The frets are modern larger style.
So far both 7.5 and this feel good, but different. It’s actually made me appreciate the vintage spec more, now that I have something to compare it to.
Ordered a mint pickguard to tryout too.
Pics below.

Don't see the pic......but would love to!
edit: Now I do - just loaded slow. Beautiful guitar - congrats! Will look even better with a mint or cream PG IMO.

I’ve got the Sherwood Green Jag. It’s got full-sized CTS pots, and the pickups are the USA VMODs.

Great stuff (I love this colour)!
I actually picked up the sherwood Hybrid Strat last weekend. (It is right next to me waiting for me to get off the Internet...) Honestly, I wish it had come with black rather than mint pickguard and am a bit jealous that the Jag, JM & Tele Deluxe all came with black, they look so amazing with it, too bad I'm not in the market for those guitars!

Jealous! That thing looks fantastic. I have been eager to try the new MIJ lines but unfortunately they seem rare to come by.

That color is fantastic. I'm imagining it with a gold guard

These MIJs are the best shade of Sherwood Fender has offered since the original AVRIs, if you ask me. Just gorgeous.

I imported it brand new from Fender Japan/Ikebe-Gakki! I waited for one fresh out of the factory and not a floor model. I am currently eyeing a new MIJ limited 70s Tele deluxe run with a trem...SemiOpaque wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 7:47 pmYes, they really are, did you import from Japan or buy locally?
