Interesting 60s Japanese Jaguar copy

Looks more like a Yamaha SG-2 copy to me.

Yeah, it's like they tried to knock off the Yamaha SG-2 and the Teisco K2L at the same time.

I like it though. The stickers on the back look like what I've seen on a bunch of Kay guitars, suggesting that these might have been made at the same factory.

I almost didn't click on this cos I'm not interested in copies, but thought it might be on the 'more interesting' side of them, like a Mory or something.

This is... simply not a Jaguar copy.

There's a little Jaguar DNA there- the pickups, switching, and trem setup are plenty Jag-ish.

I had an old Jazzmaster type that came to me in terrible shape. Before I knew any better, it was stripped for parts and discarded as the neck was missing frets etc. In retrospect it would have been perfect to learn repairs on.

This week I dug out a pickup from that guitar and in looking for what it was from, found the guitar, and came across a good bit of info, and realized how stupid I was:

I found this bit particularly interesting and perhaps helpful in this case:

"Burns of Tokyo was a short lived brand that like First Man, Idol and Honey, sprung up after the Kawai buyout of Teisco in '67. All of these brands (and many more) used the Teisco Gen Gakki factory (NOT Teisco) to make guitars for them with their own brand name on the headstock. " - from link.
