So this one is actually cool as hell, but I can't think of any other thread it'd fit better in, and I bet there are Danelectro purists out there who'd hate to see this.

haha I'm not a Danelectro purist as such, but I do hate to see it.
All those extra holes for what? A fucking shit trem that won't even stay in tune anyway. Sort of looks like it was done recently, somehow too. A real 'explosion in a parts bin' look to it. Crappy Japanese trem, random silvertone badge, bridge with damper that looks italian, dunno what that pickup is... hideous. Capping it all is that tension bar. The fact yr bad trem arm is all wrong, angle wise to go on this dano should have warned you off doing it at all

Since I can tell you love it so much I feel obliged to tell you it's currently for sale, for about 550€, and is allegedly a 1959 or 1960 examplemgeek wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 4:39 amhaha I'm not a Danelectro purist as such, but I do hate to see it.

BAN REQUEST!
Not too bad a price really, almost heading towards the realms where it'd be worth having for the joy of filling the holes and throwing all that extra stuff in the bin haha

You'd have to strum at the neck- do the strings go through/under that bridge pickup? Maybe a palm-rest for tired pick hand?
I think it's cute that there's a little cover-thingy just north of the tension bar.
I don't mind the trem- I've got one exactly like it on my Venus XII and it returns true under all but the most strident wanking.
All-in-all I dig it, but I do have a bit of a soft spot for crrazy frankenstein mods. Sad that this has happened to what would otherwise be a decently valuable vintage piece tho.

Brought over here from another forum:
Original owner tried to design the guitar with a stove top spiral on the back. This melted the nitrocellulose lacquer and some paint, but did not burn the wood.
No physical or structural damage other than the cosmetic swirls."

Got any photos of that Venus? Would love to see what one of those looks like with a trem.SignoftheDragon wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 9:24 amYou'd have to strum at the neck- do the strings go through/under that bridge pickup? Maybe a palm-rest for tired pick hand?

Managed to get a similar deal on a 66 mustang neck in the end, patience was the key!Dieca wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:58 pmIn the UK you'll find the cheapest are Allparts:fartboy wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:27 amIt's locked away atm so can't measure, but will do that. When I played it, the neck both looks and felt 'off'- action was weird, and it felt longer than the Mustang, different feel. I chalked it down to the bridge being wrong. Will take it apart when I have it back and see what's what. Will try to find a neck for it, but fender ones are ££££. Who does good replacement offset necks that aren't ridiculous money?will wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 2:27 pm
...strange - is it a 24" scale neck or a 25.5" scale neck? (measure from the nut to the bridge)
Probably a mid 60's - mid 70's Musicmaster body with some routing for electronics, plus an unknown mystery neck - if you take off the neck and snap some pictures of the dates/numbers you see, folks here might be able to tell where it came from. (it looks a lot more thin near the nut than most Fender stuff I've seen.)

7.25 radius, a chunky-ish vintage profile and a fender headstock shape, I know allparts do make finished necks too, although couldnt see any 24 inch scale ones
Guitarbuild are a little pricier but you can spec them to order so would be good if you wanted stainless frets/maple board/something else unusual. Still not too much.

A modern fender replacement neck can be had for a pretty reasonable price considering its all finished for you (and nitro too), obvs has the wrong decal though.:

Above that but cheaper than getting hold of a vintage neck would be ordering a USACG or warmoth neck from the states, I ordered a USACG on a few years back and it ran me about 350 quid with customs charges.

Lovely Bass VI, but I have the feeling that if you go to check it out there will be jukeboxes and Coca-Cola memorabilia.
