BOSS DM-2w or DD-200?
I'm looking to support my newest local guitar store which currently only sells Boss pedals. This limited selection isn't a big issue for me since I like a couple of their delay pedals anyway. After going back and forth I think I have decided on the DM-2w because I like the warm repeats and the lower price. The DD-200 tempted me for a while with its sheer number of delays (even though I'd probably only use about half of them) and its ability to dial in delays to the millisecond (not to mention tap and dotted note options). In the end, I feel like I'd be paying for features I wouldn't use and I'm also concerned about option paralysis. That said, with store closings due to COVID I have time to think about this some more. So, if anyone here has experience with one or both of these pedals, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

DD-200 is a killer pedal with loads of great sounds. I can't live w/o tap tempo, so it's a no-brainer for me.
I always opt for more options, especially if you can afford it.

DD-200 would be my choice too for the same reasons. After having my first delay pedal with tap and subdivisions I can't imagine having one without.

I would always go with the DM-2! They are really different delay pedals though, they serve different purposes.
Multi delay units units are great for (among other things) jamming, exploration, ambient, etc. I own an Akai Headrush 2 that serves that purpose.
The DM2 is simply one of the best, if not the best analog delay you can get. It's not as flexible as a DD200, but you can actually find a lot of ways to blend it into your sound. One of the main qualities I like about the DM2 that doesn't get much talked about is that it works really great with other pedals, and it will respond to different placings on your pedalboard too. I have two old DM-2's in case my no.1 breaks, which actually seems impossible, they are super reliable. The waza version seems really really nice too

A have a few analog delays I like already, so I’d probably get the 200.

Thanks for the feedback. It's really valuable in helping me clarify my own priorities. Keep the testimonials coming.
And if anyone has experience with both, I'm curious how the analog setting on the DD-200 compares to the DM-2w.

I have the katana so I've been able to try out a lot of the boss "analog" models. I would say more than passable. DM-2 is one of those "magic" pieces of gear though. I know that's not a technical term but when you play it you'll see what I mean. Personally I would go with more options and tap tempo but dm-2 does one thing very well.

Re: BOSS DM-2w or DD-200?
Latest update: I ended up going in a totally different direction. I wasn't hearing back from the guitar store and getting impatient to add a delay to my board to fool around with during my summer vacation. I started casting about and got a deal on a new Empress Tape Delay for about $25 more than a DM-2w. It still keeps me in the analog ballpark sound-wise but provides more options like tap. Thanks again for the feedback about the other two pedals because it helped me keep an open mind during the search.
Hopefully it scratches my delay itch. Should be arriving within a week.
