Aluminum Pickguards

Post by tune_link » Thu May 07, 2020 7:50 am

Do any of you have Jazzmasters that have an aluminum or brushed nickel, etc. pickguard that isn't a gold/bronze color? I'm thinking of getting something silver/metal/aluminum whatever that would be the equivalent of the kind of guard on the JMJM but in a silver type of color. Want to see what it looks like in action. I feel like I've seen a few rare examples of this here over the years but doing an image search isn't getting me the full range of what I'd like to see. Considering putting it on my 60th anniversary daphne blue Jazzy. Pics if you got em plz!

I seem to really like black:

I noticed that brushed aluminium JM pickguards had cropped up on aliexpress some months ago, eg

No idea what they actually fit ... but at least where inter-hole distances are shown you can do a rough check.

There was this FSR Strat a few years back: http://www.cmcguitars.com/fender-fsr-am ... at-guitar/

And I can't find them, but I had pictures of a Daphne blue strat with an aluminium pickguard (non-anodized, so rather silvery)... Got them from a forum, I think, it was a modded guitar. Great color combo. I'll try to find them.

I am new so forgive my accuracy etc... I really would like a JM with an anodized pickguard and somebody on a forum (maybe this) had bought one on that auction site and said it lined up perfect on a JMJM and they figured they came from the same source. If that is the case and it works on other JM models, then they had a few different colours. I wish I could recall the post, but I am sure a little searching on google or that site should bring it up. I am just having a hard time figuring out which colour is the colour that I want... stupid screens and colour accuracy!

Here are a few pics of mine…

Sorry about the indoor, nighttime poor quality of them… So that’s an MJT body, and as you can see, it was a fairly decent fit. I don’t know if it would line up with existing screw holes on any particular model or body though. I got that pickguard from an ebay seller in China. Probably the same one that is selling on Aliexpress.

I think it was this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Anodized-A ... SwieFcNxkZ

I think there's a guy making them and selling them from Reverb, who's an OSG dude. Can't remember his username, but he's a great guy. At the time he was talking about making them in black, gold, and silver color, with possibilities of other colors in the future maybe. Might want to check Reverb.

Yes that's his Reverb store. Black/silver/gold available.

He (Justin) is on OSG with the username 'gdayj' if you want to send him a PM.

Thanks for the reminder! I thought I'd added Justin to my friend's list here, and couldn't figure out what happened...

I ordered a pickguard from Justin. It was his first Warmoth one so we had to work out the fit but he nailed it and communication was great. I’ll post a picture as soon as I can.

I've got a black ano one coming from See Saw/Herad in Australia. It's supposedly AVRI accurate, and he'll also do it to match what you need.

It's been crazy delayed due to the virus, so we'll see when it arrives.

I got mine from Herad. He was great to deal with & the guard is amazing.
We are merely moving shadows.
