Dillhole-level hardware MIDI routing question
Ok, I guess 1982 is as advanced my mind gets with cutting edge midi technology. I’ve got 2 god damned midi cables. I want to send RX11 clock to my R3 AS WELL AS keyboard from my 106.
Here’s what I’m attempting-
RX11 midi out -> 106 midi through
106 midi out -> R3 midi in
However the R3 does not appear to be receiving RX11 clock. I’m assuming I just don’t actually understand midi through/any fucking thing, but regardless I’m not sure how to send 2 midi signals into that R3 from independent sources.
The shitty R3 is programmed for an arpeggiated bass in the lower octave and all I want is for it to arpeggiate locked to the tempo of the shitty RX11 but I’m too shitty at synths to play 2 separate keyboards, so I want to play Juno’s nice bigass 61 key setup.

Forgive me for asking the obvious, but do you have your midi clocks set to ‘in’ on the R3 and Juno, and ‘send’ on the RX11? Does the RX11 have a clock out, or does it only send midi notes?
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Clock set to external midi on R3
Juno doesn’t really have a bpm clock so I guess no?
RX11 sends clock by default, though it also triggers notes with each drum beat which I don’t know how to disable.

Do you have the manual for the RX11? On pg 26 it explains different sync functions, including clock out.

Any luck?

Re: Dillhole-level hardware MIDI routing question
I re-arranged it in a more logical way with partial success-
Juno 106 midi out-> R3 midi in-> R3 midi out -> RX11 midi in
Then I set RX-11 for external clock and let the arpeggiator on the R3 dictate tempo.
It sort of worked but it wouldn’t quantize my arpeggiated bass so if I happened to trigger the low note slightly off tempo it would just take off out of time. If I control R3’s tempo with RX11’s clock that doesn’t happen, I set arpeggiator to 1/8ths and it quantizes it for me so it’s locked mint. That’s why I’d like to let the RX dictate timing and Juno dictate note information, somehow simultaneously.
