Man, if that ain't the look of joy i don't know what is.
Similar thing happened to me after quite a few months and a lot of money later with my heartthrob Jazzmaster. Congratulations, boy-o!
Love that dojo finish too.

Re: Getting my #1 back- an OSG Reunion story
Some updates (:
A Musikraft Maple cap neck with black blocks and binding (my dream)
Kluson Revolution locking tuners
Fender Witch Hats
Fralin Noiseless Jazzmaster pickups ( wow)
Full setup from the master himself, Mike Adams
Only thing left- I'm considering throwing a little bit of tinted amber on the neck to darken it up...it's very pale and raw looking. I also want to put some clear over the decal on the headstock. I absolutely love this neck and don't plan on selling it....
enjoy

The new neck is pretty cool, but if it was me, I'd miss that matching headstock too much.

Re: Getting my #1 back- an OSG Reunion story
I thought that at first, but the maple / black block necks are the only thing that could de-throne a matching headstock in my book...I've always l;usted after them and in this case, it really works. Also, was just not getting along with the vintage radius on the old neck. The 10" radius on the new neck is so much more comfortable to me. Its also about 50% louder acoustically than it was before....wild

That’s absolutely amazing. It’s a gorgeous guitar! I’m still searching for my old Jazzmaster... 2002-2004 CIJ Q Series in Lake Placid Blue. I need to find it...

I totally feel you. Maple BBB is the only thing I might ever pick over a matching headstock.
Tell us what you think of those Fralins! What pots are you using with them, and do you feel the character of the JM was preserved? I haven't ever played any myself and don't know how much you can trust YouTube, but I heard some samples where they sounded rather humbuckerish and not so JM-y.

Awesome story, so glad to see you were reunited with that amazing guitar!
That shade of green/blue would be my #1 pick on a guitar any day of the week. I do prefer the matching headstock but that maple neck is particularly sharp and goes well with the body if you ask me.

I honestly love the Fralins. We AB'd them against Mikes 2007 Thin Skin, and they sounded nearly identical, albeit without the hum. I find them to be a little more full-bodied compared to most JM pickups, again something I like. I mainly went for them because I do alot of recording and I want to remove anything that could cause hum. Overall, I highly recommend them.mbene085 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:52 pmI totally feel you. I believe there are 500k pots in there...I havent changed those since I got it and not sure if the previous owner changed em.

The graphite nut is a nice touch! Matches the black blocks perfectly.RIORIO wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 12:56 pmSome updates (:
