I don't know what kind of joke Behringer is playing on Korg but they did it: Behringer Arp 2600

:-* :) :-*

I would have gladly found a way to pony up for the Korg, but if they insist on turning their 2600 into unobtainium, I’ll spend my money supporting Behringer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dok and I just hung out at NAMM, and had a chance to play Korg’s 2600. Damn nice piece of gear, there. Anyone lucky enough to have gotten one in time is a winner. I’m bummed I wasn’t able to get on the list, but it hasn’t quelled my thirst for one. I’ve got the Arturia plugin, and I use it quite a lot, but having the real thing in front of me is a totally different experience.

Wow that’s great you got to see one. Honestly still don’t believe I will get one until it actually arrives.. I’m expecting an email saying ‘sorry we couldn’t fulfil your order’ at any minute. We’ll see.

I plotzed.

Seriously. There was the screaming of "HOLY SHIT!!"
Then there was the realization that I have barely any of those other bits of gear, nor do I have the talent, time, or patience to figure out how to do stuff like that. :'(
I still don't fully understand all the stuff my regular Keystep can do. :fp:
I definitely think there will be a bit of a learning curve, and some manual reading, but it looks doable if one were to put in the time to learn. I never learned the original Keystep either, but I never did sit down to try to learn it either. Still, pretty sweet the things the Pro can do!!

Interesting, it looks like a mini desktop clone of the TTSH kit..I can see it has some extra patch point and things so they’ve probably expanded on the original design.

I would guess it’s a surface mount component design which would bring cost right down too...

It's an AMSynth rendition of the 2600, without keyboard, speakers and a digital reverb crammed into it. More, it has some features that the original didn't have. The demo video shows a prototype, and appears to be completely out of tune, and they are saying it will come (with some luck!) toward the end of the year. For me, it's more an "inspired by" synth than a proper reissue.

The Korg Arp 2600 is a completely different beast.

Seems like it's right in line with everything else they have released (not straight-up reissues) and will be a great synth once it's completely finished. Euro-rack mountable as well, which is nice. At this point it seems like you could set them all up in a rack and have quite a nice, neat, relatively compact set up.

I could see it being a nice addition to the Model D that I already have. That, or the Cat. Not that I need or can afford anything...

i'm very interested in the Sequential Pro 3 personally. every video that i've heard of it sounds like it's up my alley! also it's a good size for sofa writing sessions. 8)

Thanks, Behringer, for getting right on this ARP 2600 and trying to get it out by the end of the year, while we still don't have the fauxberheim you announced two years ago and developed to near completion before deciding to start over so you could add stuff.

Much rather have the fauxberheim than the BARP2600.

They announced the ARP first, to be fair.

I don't remember seeing anyone mention the Behringer Wasp , but that's pretty cool sounding! I like that it's semi-modular, and Eurorack mountable, like most of their other small modules. Sounds very 1970's, and I like it!!

BAH

they fill the queue with WASPS and other flotsam. And start things over from scratch to add unspecified features.
