I love Swope Guitars.
I am the proud owner of two Swope guitars -- a Daphne Blue Geronimo and a Butterscotch MG. They are just wonderful, wonderful instruments. (Take a look below. I also did a fairly comprehensive write-up of both, including with a bunch more pictures here: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index ... o.2042794/.)
After spending years collecting guitars, I found myself sitting across from two racks of them in my basement; 15 electric guitars. And it hit me all at once that I needed to reset. At some point, playing and recording had become secondary to buying and collecting. As part of that epiphany, I have reevaluated the guitars I do have and what I really want/need, which brings me to Swope.
I know that the looks of Chris's guitars have engendered a "love it" or "hate it" reaction. I fall into the first category, but I don't think there's much I can to that debate. What I can confidently says is that if you pick one of these guitars up, you will fall in love. These are two of the best (if not the very best) guitars I have ever played. The feel great. They play great. They sound great. They are light and resonant. The can do soft and beautiful. They can to harsh and brutal. They just feel like home. That have that magic.
I just wanted to spread the good word. If you've never put your hands on a Swope guitar, you should try. I have owned guitars from many of the big-name boutique builders and the premium level for some of the big guys (Pre-CBS Fender, Fender Custom Shop, Ball Family Reserve, etc.). I have sold or are selling most of those. The Swopes are staying.

The MG ("Gert")
Here's a more up-to-date picture of the Geronimo after Chris Swope went way out of his way and hooked me up with a killer tort guard:

They look really good. I like their body shapes and pickup designs.
Haven't had the luck to try one out. Unlikely where I live.

Yeah, probably not too many making it to Canada, let alone Newfoundland. But you never know!BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:42 amThey look really good. I like their body shapes and pickup designs.

I've seen and admired that Geronimo on IG many times, high up on my list of guitars I want to try!

Re: I love Swope Guitars.
The overall aesthetic of these just leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy. There's just something 'cute' about them.
I'd love to try one for sure but I've never seen one in the flesh.
Think I saw Ronnie Wood playing one of these at the Dublin show a couple of years back.
