Fender is going back into shred this NAMM...

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Fender out to get the guy from Sleigh Bells playing one of these as he seemed to be on the front wave of trying to bring back shredders. Although come to think of it, after seeing Jack White playing one of those Van Halen sigs, maybe he'd take one too.

It’s not my preferred style of guitar in the first place, but since I wanted at least one humbucker guitar I figured I might as well make mine a neon/slime green Jackson Soloist; I’d similarly like one of these.

Anyone notice no serial or ‘made in?’ At $1200 they’re either the lower end of US pricing, or the higher end of Mexican. Maybe even MIJ?

i think there is a market for these but i think it's the same kinda market that still wears spandex.

the strange thing about "shred" guitars is they no longer look anything like that. they're all now headless things with ergonomic bodies and 7 strings.

I love it. There's definitely a market for these, for those saying it won't sell. It absolutely will.

I'm sure it'll sell just fine.

I do wonder about where the guitar is made, though, and the only reason I wonder that is because priced as it is it would imply that Fender is no longer viewing the Mexican factory as being a second tier guitar producer.

If they are putting out limited and expensive runs of instruments from the Mexican plant, that tells me something about the future. And this is priced a little too low for me to think that it was made in the States.

These are intended to be a limited run nostalgia collector's piece.
It's the sort of thing that sells to someone who liked the originals back in the day, but couldn't afford to buy one back then.

The worst thing about a normal Floyd to me is the ergonomics of the normal fine tuners; I get used to it eventually, but for a while my palms had callouses there.

The second worst thing is, if you divebomb to the extent that you can, the strings wind up far enough from the pickups the sound fades out. Mustang trem avoids this, and has almost comparable range ;)

The worst thing about a Floyd Rose guitar is the fact I have to look at a guitar with a Floyd Rose. The second worst thing about a Floyd Rose guitar is I have to listen to someone’s masturbatory playing on said Floyd Rose guitar.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Isaac Brock used a Floyd Rose on a lot of his guitars over the years, he doesn't shred.

It's just a tool same as any other.
