Jazzmaster, meet Telecaster!

Post by amusebouche » Fri Jan 10, 2020 1:45 pm

I love the Jazzmaster neck pickup, but I hate tremolos. I love the feel of offset guitars being a Jazz bass player. I love Telecasters with the hardtail bridge. I built this using Warmoth body, USA Neck w/staggered tuning machines, "62 Tele bridge pickup and '62 Neck Jazzmaster pickup. USA "F" neck plate and USA control plate and modern bridge. Gray primer and finished with a hard, acrylic lacquer. No Clear. Sounds freaking awesome!

I bought a real CS Jazzmaster and then built the off-white one with genuine Fender CS parts...It's how I got into the offset guitar realm.

Cool Jazz Tele! I’ve been thinking of a similar pickup configuration. Would love to hear a sound sample of the three positions!

.

Cool!

Now for your next mod ... Jaguar single coil with the toothed backing bracket or a Danelectric lipstick as a middle pickup controlled with a Strat 5-way switch. :)

Cool beans. I really like the sound of a neck JM pickup with a fixed bridge. If you get a chance, try one with Alnico II magnets - depending on your playing style, it can give you the perfect balance between snap and roundness. I have used one of those for years in my Apricot Tele/Firemaster and it is still my favorite neck pickup ever.

This is a guitar I can get behind.

The jazzmaster neck pickup and Telecaster bridge pickup are perhaps the best tones on any Fender, they belong together.

I have a not-dissimilar hybrid in a JM body with a Novak JM-T pickup. You gain the offset vibrato but lose the contribution of the Tele bridge plate, which does affect the tone (as does the hardtail, of course).
