I'm not an expert on guards, but avoid anything that says it's for a Japanese Jag - they tend to be different. I would expect Rexter to use US standard patterns (I had a Tele body from him and everything lined up beautifully with US pattern parts - and it was gorgeous too!), but you might check with him. I've heard Squier parts fit US patterns, but wouldn't rely on that unless you find a bargain worth taking a chance on.

There should be lots of choice in the white/parchment/mint range for a US fit guard (much harder to find a nice tort without much expense).

Great. Thanks. I've gone to customworldparts, as they seem to be closest to the UK.

Next question is whether the same screws that they sell in 12 to fix the scratchplate also work for the metal plates?

Sorry, I know this is meta-detail and probably OTT but I'd like to have it all there for the build.

Actually, scratch that as I'm sure I'll need a bunch.

More pressingly, Customworld are out of stock of Fender bridge thimbles.

I suspect these are wrong:

Would you agree?

They look more or less the thing. Again US and MIJ are slightly different - http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vi ... hp?t=33676

A quick google throws up these.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11335461484 ... noapp=true

And yes, same screws for scratchplate and for metal plates.

Hope that helps!

Inca silver is one of the best finishes for a Jaguar. I find metallic silvers and blues go really well with the chrome control plates.
Can't go wrong.

Update:
Thank to CV19 and Christmas 2019 and Jon at Rexter being super-in-demand (plus other unfortunate stuff), the Jag only just finally arrived at mine.

And I managed to chip a section at the underside of the neck taking it off (as carefully as I could) to adjust the truss rod for 10's.
S***!
Never mind. That's nitro I guess.

I've got a bit of trouble with the wiring that I hope Timtam and other helpful souls might assist with...

As described in the original post, the guitar has Kinman pickups and a 4-way (with series additional option) plus a strangle and phase rev.

The Kinmans were a bit of a chore as they came with a hot+ and hot- as well as a ground wire. Which boggled our minds a bit. There was an amount of rootling, not hugely helped by what came across as a bit of an RTFM approach from Kinman, and I've ended up with two problems:

1: No tone knob effect on bright switch engaged positions.

2: A far too savage hi-pass applied by the bright switch.

I'm hoping my guitar tech can track down issue 1 (yes, it's left the house again), but number 2 is something of an unknown.

It's wired with the cap values from the Marr circuit (inc the 56k resistor). But the Kinman has a different tonality to the Bare Knuckles and runs with 250k pots like a Strat, so I'm wondering if that's a factor.
The bright/strangle is a 0.003
The tone cap is a 0.01 (but on a 250, not a 1m pot).

So what value would be worth trying on the bright switch to achieve a more subtle hi-pass that's closer to what happens on the Marr?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Ozone, sorry for late late reply. I went with white on mine. But I sometimes do swap out the parchment on it!
