My goal is to buy the new strymon iridium and run it on the vox setting through a fender tone master.

Just a joke from the Christmas Story movie.

I actually think that a Fender would be one of the better platforms for doing that kind of thing. They seem really good to use as a nice pallette for amp in a box or other emulation pedals.

I was joking entirely on all platforms. I got the reference. Sorry, I probably came across a bit more serious online than the way I actually felt when typing

I think the amp modeling stuff is cool. Probably really will get an iridium. But not to play through one of these

Here's the best review of the amp I've seen so far. He's giving away the Vintera Tele he uses in it if that's your kind of thing.

Don't get me wrong, I love tube amps. I own several. But I also really want this amp. I'm really impressed with the clips I've heard and the feature set is perfect for me. I also dream of owning an amp that I can carry around easily. My current tube combo weighs 75 lbs.
Same here, I'm really starting to think that this amp might be the one for me. Rhett's video in the post above really made me think that too

Yesterday I tried at TM Deluxe Reverb at Guitar Center, not even really thinking about what I was plugging into, to test drive a Tele. I wasn't really focusing on the amp, but after the demo I realized that it had never crossed my mind that this isn't a normal DRRI. It reacts so similarly to a normal reissue Blackface (before it starts to break up, anyway) that I doubt I could tell "real" from "fake" in an A/B comparison. Maybe they would sound a bit different, but I don't think there's anything that would make me go "oh that must be the tube/modeling amp." In fact, I played a vintage Blackface Vibrolux in the same store and didn't prefer it over the TMDR. Today I sold a couple guitars that have been sitting in their cases for a couple months and brought home that TMDR.

Killer features for me:
- DI out with built-in IRs. I wouldn't have bought it without this feature probably.
- the attenuation works very well. Even on 1 watt it sounds great at lower volumes
- So light
- Sounds close enough to a DRRI to fool me

Only issue: cleans are way better through the vibrato channel, but my dirt pedals sound like crap through that channel, though they sound great through the normal channel. Not ideal, but not a deal breaker for me. I suspect DRRIs have the same problem?

Was in a store today near close and saw a TMDR. Didn’t get a chance to play it, but gave it a lift to see just how light it was. Now me and my back are intrigued, definitely going to give one a try.

The most in depth review that I have seen, very honest and with interesting conclusions:

I pretty much agree with all his conclusions. I wasn't impressed with the sound of the amp with the master over say, 4 or 5. But then again, I've never really been impressed with tube Blackface breakup, so for me it's not a big issue. I am a bit surprised at the difference he got when A/Bing the clean pedals. My pedals work great through my TMDR, but then again, I don't have a DDRI to compare it to.

I was one of the first buyers of a ToneMaster Deluxe Reverb, I had an order in when they came out. It's been about 6 months now and I don't regret it at all.

Any differences between the tube version are so minor as to be subjective, and are more than made up for with the power scaling, XLR out, the weight, not needing to replace tubes or service the amp, etc.

I too am just about 6 months in, no regrets at all. Probably the first time in awhile I haven’t had any major complaints about an amp 6 months in haha

For me, Power scaling and lack of low level his is huge for me. My DRRI and Vibrolux sounded great, but they had some amount of hiss that was intrusive because I’m in a condo and can’t crank the amps to levels where you don’t notice the hiss, if that makes sense. Anyway, love the amp, no regrets!

I love my Fender Tone DR amp. It really blends well with my pedals. I used to be a tube only guitarist but now have seen the light. Fender is really on the cutting edge of technology but they blend it well with the old school so it will appeal to guitarists.
