The drums started off as something I programmed with Logic's Drummer, but from there I layer in sounds from BFD 3 and in this case Rob Papen's Punch, there are two guitars on it, the beginning is a Telecaster, and then the distorted parts are all done with my Firebird using Softube's Acoustic Feedback plugin - that's actually the reason why I did this tune, because I haven't gotten to learn that plug in very well.
Both the quiet Telecaster intro and the Firebird would have been run into whatever the latest version of Amplitube is, and there are a bunch of synths on there, probably Rob Papen stuff also. There are two of them, the droning organ type thing and the bass line.
It came out kind of cool... at one point in my mind I called it Talk Talk meets Pink Floyd and Sigur Ros on Pretension Street.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Hello and good evening!
Some of you might have seen some pics of the actual recording session (setup of the day thread I think it was) some time back in January/February - here comes the final product: TENTACULA - TENTACULOVE
https://tentacula.bandcamp.com/album/tentaculove
It‘s out digitally since last friday - and I received the CDs yesterday so I thought it would be about time to share this with you! Vinyl should arrive early September - so if anyone of you wants some physical Tentaculove - drop me a line!
Also if you feel like telling me what you think about it!
Guitars we used: Fender Thinline Jaguar with P-rails, Squier Jagmaster with a Goldfoil and a Filtertron, Eastwood Sidejack Deluxe, Epiphone 335, a vintage Teisco, a Mexican Fender Jazzbass and a Japanese Jaguar for ”ghost“ tracks on one song.

Anyone think setting up an Offset Guitars Bandcamp page would be a good idea?

My new band recorded a live demo.
First time I've recorded more than one instrument at once. Some credit to the hall sounding good though, i'm not sure it could have been done wrong very easily! And mixing, first time in a good couple of years, i think it came a long way since (despite zero practice at it, just a different mindset and tracking tons of things).

I’m in!!
On a related note, has anyone experienced a degradation in sound quality in their links on either SoundCloud or Dropbox? I’ve noticed a nasty digital warble in the higher frequencies on both platforms. Is it possible they’re heavily compressing content on free accounts to entice people into subscribing?
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Oh man, i think I tested that for good...A particular 'white noisy' track it was noticeable to me anyway.Telliot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 10:49 amI’m in!!

Soundcloud compresses things a lot.
But...don't upload an mp3, because it compresses it FURTHER. Still upload a decent WAV, i think it can handle 24-bits.
But idk, apparently they turn it all to 128kbps, and yet if you upload a 320kbps according to some site i just read, it will keep it.
Didn't seem to be the case to me. When i uploaded mp3, it still further applied some kind of reduction. up to 128kbps it seemed to still have reduced quality. so the tests can't lie....unless somehow, this is because the different mp3 peaks have more tendency to clip and garble. Sometimes in my DAW i have converted a WAV peaking at -0.3 and then it clips in the mp3 format for some reason.
Dropbox, i don't know. The file should be preserved exactly, but i think the 'preview' playback is reduced. These things sometimes automatically estimate your wifi bandwidth and reduce the stream quality.
In short, you could obsess over this, but i find uploading the WAV is ok, compared to an mp3 already converted. If there's something else i should do let me know!

Yes, it's another release from Sredni Vashtar. This is a swishy, swirly thing with a middle eight that took months to perfect, all recorded in rehearsal with a couple of overdubs. All feedback welcome!
