1966 Electric XII Value?

Post by adamrobertt » Sun Sep 08, 2019 2:11 pm

I have one of these to sell for my girlfriend’s stepdad. It’s in very good shape with some minor dings on the lower bout. Plays great. Sunburst finish, all original. Nothing came up on reverb. Any ideas?

Here's 2. They haven't sold so that asking price is too much. But it may give you a rougher idea of what to sell for.

There aren't any 'sold' listings for a 65, 66, or 67 on ebay to narrow it down further.

So do you think a fair price is in the $3200 - $3400 range? Seems low to me for such a cool vintage guitar...

I'd say 3,500 seems about right. Hoping others chime in. Those listings are asking for more money and aren't moving.

I remember about 10 years ago it was common to see sunburst for 1,500-1,600. Wonder what these will be worth in another 10 years.

It's really an incredible guitar. Its the first 12 string I've ever really bonded with. Gonna be sad to see it go. If I had the money to buy it off of the gf's stepdad I would in a heartbeat.

If you really love it see what you can do to swing it. I really had to stretch to buy my XII when I was in my early 20’s, but buying the same one now would be completely out of my reach.

They were pretty regularly available for ~$2.5K a few years ago when I was contemplating grabbing one.

Then I built one, played it about half a dozen times then put it away...

Do you have a topic or pics of yours Andy?

I love mine. It's got a ton of finish checking now.
