My New Customaster
Ever since Dan (Deed_Poll) posted his amazing designs over in the BST, I was stricken with WANT.
I had the plan, if Dan was game to have some fun and send it across the pond to me in the US.
Customaster body shape, belly and arm countour, routed for WRHB in the neck, offset vibrato and Tele bridge with bigsby plate. Custom BWB pickguard as well. Went with maple to make the planned faux-natural-binding pop more.
Dan was super awesome sending pics and CNC vids along the way.
The day came and it was at my house. What to do now??
I had a very specific idea in mind with a vintage Gretsch Duo Jet as inspiration.
Test fit parts and starting thinking, who is going to paint this?
MJT was down to try, but timing was rough for me.
I found a great finished Allparts Tele neck for the project on a FB group from Cody at Dallas Guitar Traders.
Turns out he finishes guitars too and he was down with the challenge. Off to Dallas it went for an aged black, faux-natural-binding, brown stain back.
As time between coats came and went I received more and more pics. ANTICIPATION!
In the meantime I turned inward to the family here and had Timbo at Sunday Handwound craft me up a Hot Broadcaster bridge to match with the vintage WRHB that I had lined up for the neck.
THEN, IT WAS ALL HERE.
Mounted up the parts, wired it all together (Emerson pots, Switchcraft 3-way, Pure Tone jack, Sprague PIO caps).
Brought it over to the shop for a once over and rocked it HARD at my gig that night.
I'm seriously in love, and hope to fund another project with Dan soon enough.

That's so beautiful. Amazing. Dan's work is great, and the way you chose to finish this up is just perfect.

I've seen variations on this idea. I reckon yours is the best version.

I dig how the trem plate and bridge plate mirror each other.

So rad...
I'm really bummed about Dan dropping off the face of the earth... I messaged him a while back but nothin'.

Re: My New Customaster
Thanks all! Labor of love, that’s for certain.
As for Dan, I know he went through a personal rough patch and mentioned that he’s not really been around here as of late. He seems well, and up for more builds. Not knowing any existing situations, I’d say just reach out with some love.
The best contact I have for him is dan@guitarform.co.uk
