Has anyone seen the Tone Bakery "Jazzbird" guitars on Reverb for $499.00? The specs look great but I only see 1 feedback related to the model in the seller's feedback history. The price seems alarmingly low for genuine Warmoth body and neck and Seymour Duncan P90s. I couldn't find anything online about them as far as reviews go.
I checked it out. That's interesting. A single Duncan P90 is lie $100, and a Warmoth neck and body are about 150 each on the very low side, right?

I can only guess he's getting steep discounts for buying in bulk, but even then everything else has to be the cheapest parts possible and he's still making some very slim margins.

Not really a fan of gibsonized JMs though.

I know what you mean about Gibsonized JMs! For $500, I think I will take a chance on it. The seller must get all of these parts at a huge bulk discount. I spec'd out building one of these a few months ago on the Warmoth website. My idea was similar but with a side mounted input jack and a regular headstock and it was close to $1200 and a whole lot of time getting it set up. I've built three partscasters(a Jazzmaster, a Jazzcaster, and a Tele with a JM neck) and all three cost A LOT more than $500 to complete so if this thing is halfway decent it will probably feel like a bargain(well, a Gibsonized bargain but why not add to my oddball collection?).

I got the Tone Bakery Jazzbird in yesterday. Everything feels and looks good. It sounds great but it was obviously just bolted together with no set up of any kind. The neck needs to be shimmed, the truss rod needs tightening, and the intonation is way sharp as you play higher. Nothing I can’t fix easily but nothing that can be ignored if you actually want to play it. Pretty good find at $499, in my opinion. The reverse headstock looks kind of weird but it works.

Make: Agape
Model: Giasemi
Price: $2,400
Body Material: "Spalted alder body with resin accents"
Scale: 25.5"
Tremolo: Yes. Um... Yes.
Is the lower waist anywhere near the bridge: Sure is.
Good / Ridiculous / Lame: Is this a disaster? It seems like a disaster. Can we just agree...

The Giasemi has an interesting location for the input jack.

Giasemi? Mmm, I do see Jazzmaster's organs transplanted in the leftover parts of a massive car accident where some other guitars have been sacrified to keep it alive.
The surgeon was so tired after the long surgery that he almost forgot about it and ended up mounted the jack socket as if he were dealing with humans: "holes on the back, done and done". (The asking price reflects the efforts).

I'm not sofisticated enough to appreciate it surely has its quirks.

With a different color scheme that would look much more cohesive.

I think you are right. And to expand on that...

With the spalted wood, it can add a lot of visual interest. But it is probably best used on a simple design, with simple lines, and not a lot of pickguard and whatnot going on. It should be the visual interest.

Here, however... you have the spalted, the resin, the pickguard with way too many screws, and that weird trem all competing for your attention, which just ends in visual fatigue.

Guitars aren't big. If you want to do something big, just pick one thing and do the shit out of it, and let everything else speak about and around that one thing.

My goal here is to feature offset guitars that are something other than just typical Jazzmaster/Jaguar or Mustang bodies, even if only slightly altered. But not just different plays on those two body shapes.

Not offset.

I almost did a post here the other day to say that I haven't seen any custom or handmade offsets on Reverb for weeks. I haven't abandoned the thread, just nothing to report.
