Need English speaking volunteer to check my grammar and lyrics...!

Post by lastlol » Thu Jul 11, 2019 1:21 pm

Hi all, as said in the title, I have an EP and a LP that will be released on a real French indie record label (I'm so happy with that...!) in September and October respectively.
Problem is I'm writing lyrics in French and English, and the label chose mainly songs in English for the LP. As they may distribute the record in England, I would like a native English speaker to listen to the songs and check the lyrics to see if everything's allright, and nothing sounds silly. Not the meaning, but more the grammar and pronunciation.
The happy and helpful volunteer will get a free LP+CD pack when the album is released !
Canadians and Americans are welcome, and also Australians, New-Zealanders, Scots, Irishmen, Welshmen, and even Englishmen ;) as long as they speak English !
PM please !

Correcting peoples’ grammar is something I enjoy too much - Would volunteer, but I count on someone else to chime in who can perhaps speak French and assert themselves as the better candidate (an English degree might not hurt either, on that note.)

I’d be happy to volunteer as well. I’m not bilingual, but totally up to help.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Count me in, I do editing part-time so that'd be right up my street.

I'm a bilingual Canadian and love correcting grammar, not that you seem to be short on volunteers. I also think that a song's grammar doesn't need to be perfect. I used to listen to a lot of Manu Chao, and his English grammar was never perfect. It never affected my enjoyment of his songs.

Agreed! In fact, incorrect grammar often adds to the fun of a good lyric. :)

Great ! I just need an email through mp so that I can wetransfer you the mp3 of the songs in English. I prefer you to listen to the songs than to simply read the lyrics.
