anyone know the song?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90JvgNQicp0
basically there is an 80's new-wave/post-punk song going around that no one knows who made it. there is a fair amount of people on here (mainly david) who might know who it is.

Sorry couldn't tolerate even five seconds of goateed YouTube gobshite? How you can sit through these arsehole to camera pieces is more of a mystery than any song and I'm happy for it to remain a mystery because any song on Dave Grohls cousins radar will surely be rockist shite.

as far as I could tell (skipped around a lot) that hairy waste of jizz just babbled for 15 minutes and never played the fucking thing. If he played it, it was in the background and very quiet.

Skipped to music, doesn't sound like OMD IMO. What it sounds like is shite, with horrid lite rawk guitar riffing and some token mouth full of cotton wool trying for gloomy vocals. It's like a cargo cult nexus of Cutting Crew and A Flock of Seagulls, importantly having none of the redeeming qualities of the later.
Don't know it, I know a lot but the style isn't something I'd have ever bought, so that's no surprise but it would probably be right at home playing over the Ukrainian remake of Pretty in Pink but not in a good way.
Consider me amazed that this is a 'thing', there's lots of amazing post punk, cold wave and minimal wave music (and even chicken in a basket rock new wave like that shite) that I'd guarantee all the plums searching for this have never heard and yet they are wasting time on looking for an utterly mediocre song that sounds like a parody or at least fruit from the same tree that led to lots of American rockers hearing synthpop and thinking to themselves 'what this really needs is a crotch rubbing guitar solo'.

I’m baffled why anyone would care enough that this was a thing. The song is just plain horrible, and I’m confused by all the comments saying how great it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

For whatever reason I get the vibe off of it, particularly the vocals, that it might be something produced behind the iron curtain by someone who was somewhat familiar with Western pop and punk. Like it is to post-punk what Ural or Tonika or Jolana or whatever were to stringed instruments. Could explain why there isn't really any record of it. Someone might have just brought over a tape that somebody eles got a hold of.

I totally get that too, now that I've heard it.Ceylon wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 12:05 amFor whatever reason I get the vibe off of it, particularly the vocals, that it might be something produced behind the iron curtain by someone who was somewhat familiar with Western pop and punk. I like this tune, and I really like how the band is a bunch of guys trying to look cool, and one guy who was doing middle aged dad shit in his 20s.

Re: anyone know the song?
Mass hysteria and extreme suggestibility. Sometimes the internet mirrors the hysteria of the middle ages.
In any case it's a pastiche, a copy of a copy of a copy, cheesy as Babybel and as I said ripe for an even more mortifyingly cringey Ukrainian remake of the already mortifyingly cringey Pretty In Pink.
The funny thing about that song is I'd bet that if someone ever found out what it was then pressed it on a record all the interest would evaporate, it's just a branch of the internet wank tree that likes Africa and is online begging Run Rig, the Spice Girls, Curiosity Killed the Cat, and Sunn O))) to cover it.
A year or so ago someone pressed up a post golden period Fra Lippo Lippi album track as a seven inch based on the song having over a million plays on youtube and predictably even a run of 500 took over a year to sell if it ever did
I mean last week people who aren't sad (and elderly) bastards like me could finally go and buy all known Karen Marks songs for a tenner and I'd bet my house that all the folk frothing over that song barely know who Joy Division are let alone Karen Marks let alone fucking anything obscure. There's certainly some UTTER CRETINS in the comments comparing it all manner of inappropriate shite but the dildo who says The Cramps wins my inaugural 'Donald Trump Golden Toilet Seat Award for Stupidity'.

Ha ha, oh shit, I said OMD but I was actually thinking of that Cutting Crew song! Typed before thinking it through. Crappy song either way.shadowplay wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 11:27 pmSkipped to music, doesn't sound like OMD IMO. Re: anyone know the song?
hhah it was like 99 red ballons covered by sisters of mercy and sang through a toilet paper tube, the guy playing the song on youtube was a mall goth who frequents hot topic and smoke salvia on weekends to be cool.shadowplay wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 10:09 pmSorry couldn't tolerate even five seconds of goateed YouTube gobshite?
