Re: "AstroCaster" build
This is really coming out amazing. I love the green, but I was thinking that with a space-age kind of silver color on the body, you could put a set of Surf 90's in there and it would look epic too! Maybe for the next build

It looks like the lovechild of a Toronado and St. Vincent's signature model.

Wet sanded today, my least fun part of a build. 400, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000. But it's like paint prep on a car; if the prep's not right, the car won't look good. You can see the shine developing:

Mostly done, but I ran out of steam and it's beer:thirty. Just need to hook up pickups to the switch, string with Fender 9-46 Bullets, then test and setup.

Beatuiful! What a fine design. The headstock is a great compliment to it, too.

I really like that. It's like a MM St. Vincent, only better!

Thanks!
There are some nice details on that St. Vincent, but I don't get why they left the bridge pickup off the pickguard- there's plenty of room to extend it & incorporate that pup. The exposed pup mounting looks odd to me.

I blame David Byrne!

This looks really fantastic. Right down to the font on the head. Just amazing. Are you making this model and plan to sell it, or just a one-off for yourself?

Re: "AstroCaster" build
Thank you. This is a one-off build from a sketch I did while thinking of more modern designs for a guitar. Most seemed too radical, but this one struck me as modern and still recognizable as a guitar shape. I also saw it as two intersecting guitar picks, which made it the obvious choice to build. I enlarged this sketch as far as I could on my printer, then took it to a print shop to have it enlarged to full size. Then I added the pickup, pickguard and controls details by finding component drawings online, enlarging them to full size, and laying them out on the print to make the final router pattern.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 7:20 pmThis looks really fantastic.
