Fender Modern Player Marauder Makeover

Hello,
I've owned 2 Marauders and my brother currently owns a Lake Placid Blue one. I spruced them up a little with new WD pickguards, pickup covers, competition stripes and new old stock knobs on one. Simply cosmetic changes, nothing was changed under the pickguard. They're pretty good discontinued guitars that can be picked up cheap. All of the necks were superb, as are the Jazzmaster pickups.
Just thought I'd show how these can be totally transformed to look less cheap!

Nice. I've been thinking about picking up a second one myself. I like the last LPB one with the black pickguard and the black pickups.

What's the WD gold pickguard like? Have you tried it on the LPB with white pickup covers and the white witch hats? I'd say that would look pretty good.

i was considering getting a second one to mod actually sadly they're discontinued :( i really think that if squier/fender insists on their dimension bass, they should insist on the marauder

I would love it if Fender reissued a Marauder with the MP pickup configuration (the triplebucker looks and sounds pretty versatile from the videos) but which looked a little more like one of the mid 1960s prototypes with the proto-Starcaster headstock (way cooler than your standard Strat-style headstock). Fender, please don't make me drop £2k for a Bilt Relevator! I can't afford that! What I can afford is a £300 MIC Fender.

The Modern Player Marauder: Another model everyone hated when they made it and love after they discontinued them.
Same as the Super Sonic, Cyclone, Toronado, Venus, etc.

Jags were discontinued in 1975, and reintroduced in 1999 (Japanese ones in '86).
Jazzmasters were discontinued in 1980, and reintroduced in 1984.

Omg these are incredible. How did I do the racing stripes? Got me looking for a marauder now, hadn’t heard of them before today...
Things are more like they are now, then they ever have been.

Dude, it's crazy how much better it looks with just a bit (ok maybe a lot) of flair added in.

The body shape is still a little goofy to me, but it would have had a much better chance if it came out of the factory looking like yours does.

Curious now - And sorry if this is the wrong place or the question is addressed elsewhere, but really what is the point of the triple-bucker? It wouldn't hum-cancel unless only two coils are active, is that correct? (Correction - I am very grateful that Fender innovated on the Maurauder :D )

It's really a humbucker and single coil in one unit. Even when all 3 coils are active, only two are hum cancelling eachother. The other one is acting as a single coil on it's own - just that basically you have both the single and HB in the bridge position at the same time, independent of the neck pickup.

Here's the standard default wiring.

My Jag switch mod adds the 3 more options.: Neck and TB humbucker coils, Neck and all 3 TB coils, and all coils off.

If you used Bass VI switches, I guess you could add more options by coil-splitting the HB part of the triplebucker. But that would just be gluttonous ;D

Ah thanks :) So basically it's wired HSS, and only pos. 4 & 1 would cancel hum if I have it correct?
