Re: Newest build using reclaimed 100 year old pine
I'd be throwing another vote in for cool old hardware- previous suggestions are nice, I could see this thing with a Charlie Christian pickup or two, or maybe some Kay speed bumps. An old Hofner Verythin trem (if you could find one) would be the business.
Very inspiring build

yeah those pickups would look great. Being a bit less familiar looking than yer usual strat/humbucker pickups they could easily pass as some sort of mysterious chromed oddity from 1950-65Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 2:17 am
I'm thinking Bigsby and Firebirds, for the metal to be different from the wood...

Are you talking about the hofner trems or the selmer made Bigsby's that veri's came with? I keep fantasising about doing a solid flat top build with one of those bigsbys on it, either like Maton did with the wedgtail (saw off the end and screw through the top) or hanging off the end like Lonnie Mac's flying vantisymmetric wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 2:43 amI'd be throwing another vote in for cool old hardware- previous suggestions are nice, I could see this thing with a Charlie Christian pickup or two, or maybe some Kay speed bumps. It might be worth looking at what Mojo Pickups have to offer too, if you decide to go down that retro pickups look. I can see some kind of quirky gold foils with tarnished chrome cases working really nicely.

I would love if you stayed away from the Tele control plate. Its so overdone. No half pickguards either please.
May I suggest a short Lyre, or Hagstrom style trem?

That wood is gorgeous, also yeah Jazzy trem or similar'd be good with it. Or maybe a Bigsby?

Agreed! Without wanting to unduly pressurise the OP, whose guitar this is, the number one thing that ruins most builds for me is boring off the shelf pickups and hardware. If the whole build is not to my taste, then who cares, but this looks special, so I care
The wood here looks amazing, and the herringbone binding looks deffo deserves some cool bits

Definitely some old school hardware would look cool on this!
I'd consider a Smith or Burns vibrato:
And some Filtertrons or Dynasonic's. Dearmond goldfoil's with the metal baseplate would be cool too.
