Yup.. it's a side project that has taken place last year while I was working on my Jagstang build. When I was digitally redrawing the latter, I noticed that theres a little jaguar inside its outline.

From that point onward I've started tweaking things out and did all sort of redesign and custom variations on the theme. It's still a work in progress thou.

Why not just use the port on the box, with maybe a slot (or hose) to fit in a small box fan? Use a filter, and have the box fan sucking the air out of the box...

It hardly needs a fan unless I'm actually spraying paint. For that I'd use an AC unit with a remoted motor so the fapors don't flow across a running motor causing a potentially disastrous result. On this, though, I could use a really small fan to pressurize the box a little for air flow. For that I could almost get away with a computer cooling fan. I may think about that at some time.

I must say, there are some cool projects going on here. Amon 7.L's small duosonic (some mighty nice renderings, there) and epizootics' cool Dano-ish build (love that neck heel shape). I'm a big fan of original design work. Looking good, guys.

Seriously. The times when this thread isn't used much are a bit sad. This might be my favorite thread on OSG

Last Saturday, I spent all afternoon starting the build for my pliers rack. After figuring out my basic widths and lengths, I started cutting 1/4" slots on 3/4" ACX ply. I then took 1/4" x 6 (5.5") oak boards and sliced them into 3" sections (3" x 5.5"), adding a 45° miter at the top, and a 5/8" hole in the middle (using a clamped stop-block on my drill press to ensure the exact same spot was drilled in every piece). Here I glued the first row (of 2), adding the dowel (oak) before the glue dried:


Yesterday after work, I glued the second/last row, and added the dowel for that row as well:


It will get an end plate for each side, and the whole thing will get mounted to a board for my French cleat wall. Hopefully I'll finish it this morning after work, if not Friday morning.

Saturday, I also made a quick holder for my shop fire extinguisher as the plastic one it came with broke:


Before finishing the day Saturday, I started mocking up a few boards at different angles for all my drill and router bits. I cut a few pieces of scrap wood at 3 different angles (30°, 45°, and 60°) to test them out, but I think I'll end up using 60°. I was using my metric Forstner bits for some between sizes that they don't make in SAE (at least not from CMT Orange), and was tired of seeing them sitting in their original factory packaging, so I figured now would be the time to start messing with that. The plan is to make the angled board that holds each type of bit (separate board for each type), and then once they are all made, to mount all of them to a single board that mounts to the French cleat wall. So far I know I have to make one for my SAE Forstner bits, metric Forstner bits, router bits, sanding drums and countersink bits, and all my really commonly used bits on the drill press (1/8" standard drill bit, 3/8" Forstner for screw hole plugs). I might all make one for my Dremel bits as well. That is to say, I'll definitely make one for my Dremel bits, but I don't know if that one will mount to the drill/router bit board, or be held somewhere else. Here's what I was prototyping for these:

I may try to incorporate ^this^ dado bit holder design into the simple style that I found from April Wilkerson's channel as well, that I really like:


EDIT: Forgot to add this one. I'm also building a little rack of tubes to hold my wood lathe tools. I'm doing it at work because we've got tons of table space, and we've got enough air movement in here that the fumes aren't an issue, which they likely would be at home. The shorter tubes that are laying down in this picture will be glued onto the front of the piece that's already built. I believe the PVC is all 1". Just glued together with PVC glue. The row that's laying down is only glued in pairs (not the whole row).
