^^Nice! I use stainless for zeros too, so much better. Love those SA 30s. One day.....

That's a lovely piece of ebony. I actually like the maple too, it has some character.
Once I start making my own necks I plan on using stuff like this, with the heart wood showing:
Lots of character and would otherwise be firewood.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
thanks
carefull to much caractere is bad for a neck
the wright way is to choose the better part of wood with fiber the more straight
if you choose Something to much tortured you can have a twist in the finish neck
for try you could but for real neck Don't be too much aventurous ,the neck of my telemaster is really tortured and i have the chance it is stable but it is a quarter saw at body and going flat at the headstock ,but the wood was so beautiful i take the bet

A baby-sized jaguarish shaped duosonic -which I just call MAYA- with an alkyd paint curing issue. After a full month still hasn't cured.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
I made a rack for my screwdrivers, nut-drivers, and bit-drivers! I started with the holder pieces themselves: 5/4 x 6 cut in half and cut down to 2" wide, then after laying out and measuring the diameters and thicknesses of each driver, spaced them out according (on average about 1.5" between each driver, and 2.5" between driver types). When mounting, I spaced them 3" apart (from the top of the upper piece to the bottom of the lower piece) with 1" between them (front to back-wise), so I could get any driver out without having to worry about what's mounted on the cleat wall above the rack. Came out great and I'm VERY happy with it!!
Also made a quick-and-dirty hangable hook for my little 2-step step-stool.

That's nice! A good, usable design. Sure beats a shoebox, doesn't it?

Thanks dude!! It sure does! Haha. I think just having some of my tools out and usable is helping with depression a little, which is a good thing. I was hoping to work on the rack for the pliers today, but I was kinda tired, and wanted a day to just chill. I might start on it tomorrow after work though, and just work on it a little throughout the week.

Looking forward to seeing that pliers rack.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 8:10 pmI was hoping to work on the rack for the pliers today, but I was kinda tired, and wanted a day to just chill. I might start on it tomorrow after work though, and just work on it a little throughout the week.
My garage is certainly not a bug- and dust-free environment. A few days ago I completed a box to let guitar bodies hang in to dry. That done, I put some Wipe-on Poly on the one in progress (Roadhouse) and got the finish looking good yesterday. Today I buffed it slightly with typing paper to smooth the surface and put it back in the box to cure. Rather than start on anything else, I just took the day to do other things. It must have been a good day to 'not do' the things that didn't have to be done.
Yes, those are shop towels stapled to the inside of the filter frames since I didn't have any filter material on hand. While it's out-gassing, the 'filters' just let the box breathe and keep the dust off anyway. The thing works pretty darn good.

Thank you.
When I was building the body I was kind of tempted to build it right handed and playing it upside down.. It's a funny little toy.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Thanks. It would have been nice to have it big enough to vent with an exhaust fan and paint in it but there just wasn't any room around here for one that size. Dust and trash doesn't get stuck to things while spraying for the most part. That always seems to happen while it's drying. One this size can get stuck somewhere out of the way when not in use.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 10:41 pmThat's awesome!! Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Why not just use the port on the box, with maybe a slot (or hose) to fit in a small box fan? Use a filter, and have the box fan sucking the air out of the box...Rgand wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 5:45 amThanks. Re: What's on your workbench right now?
I didn't start a thread here for this one, but this little thing has been occupying my bench for the last couple of weeks...
The body is my first attempt at a Dano-style construction. 24.625" scale length, 12" radius, maple neck with a padauk fretboard. Pine for the sides and 80+yo cherry for the center beam. MDF top & bottom. The body shape is inspired by the old Guyatone LG-50, only a bit bigger and with a mirrored bottom half.
...and the dreaded TOM/JM trem combination
