A bit like the Starcaster. Close but no cigar . I made my own 12 string/ bass VI a few years ago out of need /desire.

Oh my! It’s finally happened! I want one so bad! Yeah, so it’s not exactly vintage correct. Neither is my Starcaster, which I don’t care what anyone says, is a great guitar. When I have the money I might buy one!

The Starcaster is a beaut. The non-vintage TOM/stopbar bridge set up meant I could stick a Duessenberg Les Trem II vibrato on it. Plays like a dream and sounds incredible. I don’t have £900 to spend on one of these and I bet they go up in price post- Brexit (but then, everything’s going to shit after Brexit). Maybe they’ll follow it up with a Squier like they did the Bass VI (which I also have).kgbAttack wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 11:28 pmBoth the Starcaster and the XII are on my list - can't wait!JPCordingley wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 3:16 pmOh my! That blue one looks great. I'm not au fait with XIIs, what's not vintage correct about it?

Re: SQUIER XII PETITION ON PAGE 14 - SIGN NOW
The bridge Had saddles more akin to Mustang saddles, but obviously narrower and there were 12 of them. The switching was a four way rotary switch rather than a three way toggle (not sure the exact configuration, I think some kind of in/out of phase options?) and the fretboard and string spacing was wider than a standard 6 string, which I’m not sure this is. I believe the pickups are also a little hotter in keeping with modern tastes. None of this bothers me. I’ve always preferred trying to find my own sounds rather than trying to recreate exact tones of olden days music. I’ve also played a couple of 12 strings with what felt like regular 6 string sized necks. I might be 6’4 but my hands aren’t particularly big so I prefer a neck that’s easy to get my hand around - much prefer a modern C to a big chunky old fashioned U.

The original rotary switch acts as following:
1. Neck pickup
2. Both pickups in parallel, in phase
3. Bridge pickup
4. Both pickups in parallel, out of phase

Let’s hope Fender decides to release a Squier version after seeing how (great) it will sell. Didn’t they release the Pawn Shop VI a couple of years before doing the Squier VM version?
I am.

Has anyone preordered the alternate reality xii? They don't seem to be released or even shipping yet. Wondering if they pulled them.

Someone in the thread devoted to that model just posted today that it got charged to their bank account. Must mean it's on the way

I just got so excited to see these alternate reality xiis that I thought a squier was released... i'd have bought two. then I saw it's a fender (out of budget) I do hope a squier comes someday. inca silver or shoreline gold are my dream.
