The bass player apparently snapped this one of the setup from yesterday. First time we've got together to play in ~6+ months:

Can't see my stuff too well, but it was the DiPinto Mach IV and Booncaster plugged through this board:

and into my recently traded for '65 Super Reverb RI w/ Eminence Legend 1028Ks and 1058s.

It was sounding awfully great to me and it was awesome to get back to playing w/ the guys

It's a lovely amp. Woody, reedy, smokey, like an old double or triple O Martin from the 50s. I wish it had a bit more in the low-end but it records beautifully.

Curious if you have anything plugged into the trem jack to completely kill the wiggle or if you just turn it down?

I see your tone at 4 or 5 too. I used to run that setting on the brown ones I had with original speakers. My black one with the weber I run the tone up full blast or anywhere 8-10. Plenty of bass too, but thats whats lacking from those original champagne speakers. I know I'm probably losing out on the OG beautiful reedy high end but I like have that bit of full bass response much more, which is why I never tracked down an original speaker (nudge nudge).

I usually just turn the intensity down to zero. But the Solemate Reverb does have a switch onboard that I can use to trigger the amp's tremolo. Usually if I'm going to use a switch for the amp's tremolo, I use an old Boss Metal Zone that I gutted and wired as an on/off switch.

And you're right about the tone. I usually run it anywhere from 4-7, depending on what I'm going for. There's a fair bit of versatility in that knob and it mostly just touches the high-end of the EQ spectrum so I can go from smokey to chime fairly easily. I do miss the low end of the more robust speakers, but the amp sounds so good and archtop-like that I really don't want to change the speaker to something bigger sounding and heavier. This amp weighs next to nothing, as-is, and it operates more like a loud Tweed Champ than a low-powered Twin, like my Princeton Reverb does. In recordings, most of that low-end gets chopped off anyhow, so this thing sits in a mix beautifully. I just never seem to find myself recording!

well i normally use a bassman. plus one of my jagmasters is setup like a strat and to me a bassman with a strat will always sound like doug marsh

Steven, that is a lovely setup!! You said it's a 6G2: is that a Brownface? Is it vintage or reissue?




Here's what I was playing Saturday (really rough picture, sorry): Tele > tuner > EQD Westwood > EQD V3 Hummingbird > Caroline Kilobyte > Wampler Reflection > looper > Peavey Delta Blues.

I sat down to mess with my bass board a little (and did!). I had been messing with using the Westwood on the bass board, but I don't really care for it on bass, but it still sounds wonderful on guitar. I use it with the EQ almost flat and the gain around 11:00, for a kind of slight break-up. It reminds me of "Timothy" by As Cities Burn, as it has this nice, crisp low-end that I've never heard with anything else (that I've played). So, it's staying on the guitar board. When I bought the Westwood, I bought it for my guitar board, but at that point, it was my 5th gain pedal.

I think I might be moving the Arc Effects Soothsayer to the bass board. That thing slays on bass. I paired it with my SS/BS Mini (Soothsayer > Mini) and I got this almost perfect Raveonettes fuzz nastiness that sounds like Sune going straight into the console with his fuzz. Might have to play with that a bit more. Just have to decide whether I like the Soothsayer better than the Dwarfcraft Baby Thundaa (Thunder?). They both sound amazing, but I want the bass board to be reasonably minimal. Still need to figure out a tremolo for the bass board, but I've got a few I'm looking at.

For my guitar board, nothing will replace my Red Panda Context, but I gotta say, the Wampler Reflection might be the perfect reverb. I bought it for my bass board, with the intention that my bass board would be my jam/gig board for guitar. It's just plate and spring style. The spring sound on the Reflection is REALLY good.
