Are you going to paint the new part? If so, I am really looking forward to seeing how this is done, because I honestly have no idea how a smooth transition from the existing old part to the new part can be done.

I would leave it as is. The add on wood looks cool.

I am going to do my best at matching the paint, ambered clear, and checking. I look at it as an exercise in relicing, which I have not done enough of yet. My plan is to razor blade the checking to match the surrounding checking. I know full well my repair will be noticeable, but I want it to be as discreet as possible.

I'm using Z-poxy as a grain filler. Not what I would normally go for, but on this one I felt like it was the best choice

I was bummed that i missed your call for old poplar earlier in this build, but then I double-checked the unused half of that red Musicmaster body and there isn't a decent chunk that would have been the right size for your patch.
