Re: New alternate reality - Powercaster (HB and P90)
I like it - the white one looks a bit weird and I hate surf green, but I think sunburst makes the body shape look really cool.
If this were a Squier, I'd definitely buy one, swap the ugly mismatched pickups for something more visually pleasing, cut a new, less awkward-looking pickguard and slap a Vibrola or maybe a Les Trem in there, but €800 is a bit too much for that kind of thing.

Re: New alternate reality - Powercaster (HB and P90)
I hate maple necks (appearance), but I could probably play on this thing. Assuming the neck is thick enough for me. I also do like TOM bridges and stop tailpieces on my main "heavy" guitars, so I like that about this. And all of the controls are clear of my stupid crazy picking hand that tends to hit pickup selectors anywhere near a strum path.
Between this and the Squier CV Jag I think I could have a scary year in avoiding buying stuff.

+1 on the Zebra PU looking weird (they just look cool if it's two of them and on a Les Paul)
+1 on not liking Gibson style stop tail bridges on Fender designs. I don't hate them at (I was a Les Paul Player before I got my Jag) - but you should at least have options! Like the "iron man JM" no problem if they offer it as one option, but they should also offer any kind of Vibrato-System too! Even a Strat style Bridge looks alright with a JM/Jag style arm (my bandmate has exchanged it on his Jagmaster and it looks just perfect now!)
Personally I think the powercaster looks way better than the fallout (a quite boring design if you ask me, no offense meant)
The pickguard looks alright. Worse than the big guard Toronado but way better than the small guard Toronado! The neck looks like one of those warmoth special options. Looks good.
For the toggle-knob affair: you could always exchange the toggle with a knob and put it either first or last in chain - but it does look a bit odd in the middle!

I think this one is my favorite of the new alternate reality series due to the 24.75 scale. I do wish it had narrow tall frets and would probably replace the pickups.

"Powercaster? What a great name!"
-Nobody.

It's what intrigues me most as well. The name, the pickups and the colour selection could be better, but Gibson scale on a Fender doesn't come along every day.loungelife wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 1:42 pmI think this one is my favorite of the new alternate reality series due to the 24.75 scale. I actually like it. It's cheesy, but "Jazzmaster" is just as ridiculous if you think about it. ___caster just sounds right and Fender-y to me.
Seeing as they've already got a Stratocaster, I'd go through the other atmospheric layers too. Mesocaster, Tropocaster, etc.

Re: New alternate reality - Powercaster (HB and P90)
Haha, good point. We're so accustomed to talking about/seeing Jazzmasters that we don't question the name, but when you pause to think about it, Jazzmaster is every bit as silly as Powercaster!
Cheers!

I still think that „Paula“ for a Les Paul is the silliest name any guitar could have, yet it’s quite common amongst German guitarists.
Jazzmaster - I play one but do I master any Jazz on it? Certainly not
I actually like the name, it’s Fender-ish yet a play with the scheme of the -casters. Next year will see the release of the Turbocaster, the same guitar with active electronics

24.75 you say? As a person who loves his Toronado, I want to play one of these.

Turbocaster is the coolest/cheesiest guitar name I've ever heard. If I make a guitar with an original body shape, I'm totally stealing thathiggsblossom wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 5:10 am
