A while back I picked up a J Mascis neck cheap from an ebay seller in China. It had a really subtle birdseye to the maple, but a smudged logo, so I figured it would be a good candidate to practice my finishing skills and do a matching headstock.
I watched and waiting on a bunch of MJT auctions and finally picked up a nice, light Ice Blue Metallic body at 4 lbs, 5 ounces.
From there, I picked up the rest of the parts including a loaded pickguard and trem from a Classic Player and a US bridge. The rest came out of my parts bin.
I'm loving this thing so far. It's my first JM and it sounds great clean through a Princeton or dirty through a Champ clone. I've read quite a bit of negativity about the CP pickups, but I love 'em. My spring project will be the headstock refin and maybe rolling the fretboard edges.
