90s classic...
Bought this for £20 from a charity shop last week no psu so no way of testing whether it worked - didn't have a compatible ac/ac psu - new one from teh ebay arrived today and the unit is in full working order - £20 i remember how much i wanted one of these back in 1997 when £350 was too rich for a young Dezb1 - so £20 + £5 for the Psu and it sounds great - should be able to get close to all my Amp Farm settings from our studio for quick practice sessions:

I remember those well. The concept just blew me away.
My personal experience with early modelers was that the distorted tones had absolutely no dynamic responsiveness and were quite joyless to play through, though you could get usable recorded tones out of them.

THE FUTURE*
*as seen by 1998
honestly. i started playing guitar around 2003 and they were still everywhere at that point. much like with most modelling stuff. i get the point but it's not for me. i had a line 6 toneport for a while and the earlier version of the program was pretty cool. the amp modelling wasnt perfect but it had a good amount of selection. then they stopped supporting it and left us with the way worse podfarm. it was like 40 amps down to 3.

I picked one of these up for next to nothing on a lark a couple years ago. I didn’t care for the sounds in the 90’s compared to my tube amps, but 20 years later it comes in handy as a late night headphone amp and something to record with when the kids are in bed.

I was so expecting a zoom 505 or a digitech grunge... this is more like 00's classic.

Re: 90s classic...
Man, I had both the guitar and bass versions of these because I lived in an NYC apartment and couldn't use amps. People complain about the distortion tones on the guitar POD, but I always struggled to get a clean as nice as a real world tube amp. My strategy with both the guitar and bass units was to get as good a basic amp sound as I could, and let my pedal board do the rest. It worked out ok, but I do think I got more mileage out of the bass POD.
Both these units also helped me understand what kind of amps I actually like. Almost all the amps I had at that point were obtained with price as the determining factor, so I'd been on a run of Peavey and Hartke gear. The sims in these units helped me so much to understand what I actually wanted, so even now, it was a valuable experience.
I dug my guitar POD out recently as a practice unit when I don't feel like going down to my studio space. It's good for that, even now.
