Re: How Many Dirt (OD, Fuzz, Dist.) Pedals Live On Your Boar
Well... I got the Empress Multidrive yesterday.. it effectively killed my ProCo Rat II, so I removed that from my board. However, the fuzz is good but not nasty enough, so I kept my Swollen Pickle on the board. So as of now, just two dirt pedals, the Multidrive and the Swollen Pickle, gives me all the tones I will really need in that department.

I've got a Zvex Box of Rock, a Wampler Velvet Fuzz, a Flint Amplification Bad Seed Fuzz, and a Way Huge Fat Sandwich and I like to turn them all on at the same time sometimes:)

Zero overdrive or distortion pedals on the board currently.
Non-master 15W amp with a low power mode and a hot P90 means my baseline sound is fairly crunchy when I dig in.
I use a Pigtronix Class A Boost and my Demeter Tremulator (with the depth all the way down) for two different flavors of bump.

Right now I only have dirt pedals on my board (apart from the tuner). We're doing a bunch of Weezer covers (Blue and Pinkerton era) for one of my bandmates' 40th birthday party, and I need a few specific flavors of dirt to nail all the sounds:
Boss HM-2 - main sound for most songs (all the Blue album songs + B-sides)
Boss BD-2 (modded for a thicker sound) - used as a solo boost, and as the main sound for the more dynamic songs on Pinkerton
Boss FZ-3 (modded beyond recognition) - used to mimic the synth sound on "Tired of sex", and for the quieter solo part on "The good life"
Boss FZ-2 (modded to sound a bit more like a Superfuzz) - used for the solo on "Pink triangle"

I've got four that are usually on my home board, with a fifth that I'm not sure where to put.
Catalinbread Naga Viper
Magnetic Effects White Atom
Arc Effects Soothsayer
EQD The Dunes
The fifth is an EQD Westwood that I really like, but it might go on the bass board. Honestly, I could run just the Naga Viper and The Dunes, and be very happy. It seems to be the perfect drive sound on every amp I own.

4-5 (out of 8 including tuner)
Death by Audio Super Fuzz War (~Dist/Muff)
Blackout Effectors Fuzz Bear (~Tonebender)
Surfadelic Soundwaves Mindfuzz (~Fuzzface)
JPTR FX Jive - Tape Saturator Machine (~Boost, Lo Gain Overdrive, adder of Grit/magic, and purifyer)
and the Death By Audio Echo Dream 2 also has a Fuzz Knob... but it's still more of a delay to me.

Re: How Many Dirt (OD, Fuzz, Dist.) Pedals Live On Your Board?
It has changed very much, very often, but at the moment it's not that much:
Big board: 4
both channels:
Jext Telez UniDrive
Jext Telez Dizzy Tone
Ch 1: - Tenabe Zenkudo
Ch 2: Throback OD/B
(Unused - muff side of Keeley Loomer)
Small board: 2
ch 1: Mad Professor Amber
ch 2: Modded Boss BD-2
These 2 seem to offset/complement each others' tones very well.
edit: fixed, I don't think they make a Boss BD-1...derr

It's a boost booster, to boost your boost - it makes your tone much muchier.

Re: How Many Dirt (OD, Fuzz, Dist.) Pedals Live On Your Board?
Keeps changing but right now:
RX Yardbox (modded Tone Bender)
Fuzz Factory clone with extra knobs which does a good brighter less woofy Fuzz Face
Blackout Musket (modded Big Muff)
Metal Pedals Bomb Shell distortion (AFAIK it's own circuit)
ZVex Distortron
Bigger board is on the workbench, soon to fit more...
A problem i have is i seem to make them all sound almost the same.
I know for a fact that there's another Tone Bender under the tree, so...

Well, to quote the guy in our former rehearsal-room complex, who asked me about my new band's name (which is called TENTACULA) and them tear it our of context:
"I see, the name is concept!"
I think this is also valid for my user name here.
Honestly I'm already trying to reduce my board to a smaller one - but everytime I think one Fuzz could possible go - it sounds absolutely killer next time I play it... and so it's indispensable again!

Fulltone OCD, Big Muff, and an MXR Blue Box with the octave turned down so it's just a noisy harsh fuzz.

Re: How Many Dirt (OD, Fuzz, Dist.) Pedals Live On Your Board?
I just managed to ditch a Timmy clone, and I have a dual Broadcast on the way that I’m hoping will shake things up a bit more. In the meantime, it’s four: Acid Fuzz with bias adjust and tone switch > Rm-1n > SSBS Mini > Catalinbread DLS III. Though it was previously in place as a pre-dirt ambient reverb, I recently figured out I really like using the gain on the RM-1n as my main light-mid drive, and it’s easy enough to bring back the reverb with the mix control. That does mean I have some extra noise that, unfortunately, isn’t compatible with the DLS, but the Rm-1n sounds great with the other two. The end of the chain is a Caroline Icarus boost, which I use at practice to kick my NR Princeton into a place where I can hear it against my bandmate’s 2x12 Music Man.
