Also, looking at the type of gold paint used, it looks like it was *shudder* done recently. HURRR DURRR BUT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ONE ALL-ORIGINAL ONE, AMIRITE?

I'm betting someone buys it and it shows up for sale again a few weeks later without its neckplate.

1966 Musicmaster. 😬

Up on Reverb at the moment.
ever leave a chocolate bar in your back pocket on a hot day and forget about it then you take it out and it's all melted and lumpy?

actually, it gets worse. i read the description.

"But here's why you'd want to own it:

The most visible difference between a stock Fender Musicmaster and this one is the ornate carving to the body and the gold finish. It's a cool job and you'll never see another one."

that's not a good thing you know.

"The Gibson-style switching system is not original, and it sits where the tone control (that almost no-one ever used) used to be"

you mean YOU never used a tone control. does not mean others dont

"the whole guitar feel bluesy and expressive"
come on man, use all the buzzwords. i'm still waiting for "mojo"

"Condition:
Good (Used)"

i think we might have different ideas of what constitutes "good" for me "good" is a guitar with a little bit of wear. not chunks carved out the body, painted with 90's bmw paint and hacked up.

Weird string-through thing. Veneer it.

not for 750 quid!

I sort of enjoy seeing these kind of crappers kicking around, to an extent, but overpricing, not so much. Reverb is a joke, it's like the buy it now graveyard aspect of Ebay but without the low start auctions to keep things interesting. Just endless lists of vastly overpriced crap

For the 150 dollars this guitar should actually be priced at, then maybe it'd be worth getting for the neckplate...

i've said this before but most times reverb prices are way to optimistic. which is annoying since those are what the local pawn shops use as their guide prices now. then wonder why they aint sold anything in like 3 months.

as for that musicmaster, i'd pay £150, put the neck on a ash duosonic/mustang body, sell the pickups, loose the horrible blinding white guard and have a weird vintage-modern hybrid.

Yeah it's a miserable cycle...even started to impact my beloved Fenton Weills, which are rarely worth more than £200. To look at Reverb you'd think they were £1000-£1500 guitars! Ridiculous

the cash converters near mine got a lot of pedals that were unsold in another shop. there is like 20 behringer compressors, 20 behringer choruses, 5 way huge aqua puss and some other way huge pedals. you'd think "ok, if they didn't sell in a guitar shop for RRP. sell them for less" WRONG. last i checked, they were charging basically RRP. they also have a colorsound wah, but yet again reverb prices.

i've said this before. reverb can charge that because
1. usually these are specialist shops/experts selling them and can test them.
2. usually the reverb price is a guide and things tend to go for 10% less than that.

musicians buy from pawn shops to find a bargain. not pay £150 for a 00's squier affinity strat with 2 strings and 1 pickup missing.

however, i was quite lucky recently. i found my second squier bullet mustang for £65. safe to say it's no longer stock.

At least the stock bridge didn't get raped. EMGs - so not quite a 'Plus' though :) Would still actually play that and not be immediately compelled to swap things around- then again I already own a traditional Jaguar.

This one is the worst thing I have ever seen. I mean, we had a lot of strange mods in this thread but this one is just plain stupid. I can't even tell what the "mod" on the upper horn is for.
I could live with the changes made to the electronics, with the new fret wire, the Schaller tuners - if that makes the instrument "playable", why not? But the body modifications... :-X :k

Here's another one of these monstrosities - the first offset one I've seen though.
It's just an Affinity Jazzmaster, so it's no real loss. But still, WHY? And does he really think it's worth $850 now?

i actually like the affinity jazzmasters. would i pay $850 for one? hell no. it's still a squier and you can still get one for £160. plus why would you take one of the most comfortable body shapes and do this shit?

Plus, I don't think he even upgraded the electronics or hardware.
I think these are just meant as decoration for the walls of shitty American restaurants where the servers wear bowling shirts and the menu is comprised entirely of fried food.
