Nice mini rig. I've wanted one of the nanos for a while, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Many thanks!

This little rig real does the job in an apartment 8)

Six months on, I have another update. this little amp has been so great to play at home with. :)

But, the 1x12 cab I had made for it just wasn't working out...it wasn't that much smaller than my Matchless Lightning, and it was fairly loud too. So much for the "Mini stack" idea. :-[ It did sound awesome, but my original goal of something small and manageable was not exactly fulfilled.

A few weeks ago, I was walking around the park nearby. I looked down and found a pair of sunglasses. It turns out they were italian designer ones, so I stuck them on ebay and made £45. :freako:

I then took that £45 and bought a used Orange 1x8 cab...the same one used for the Micro Terror amps (I think). The pairing with the Nano is excellent. The volume came down significantly, although I still need some attenuation for the raging full-on distorted sounds. I also stuck on a tilt-back leg so I can angle it better.

Perfect! :-* 8)

Damn, that looks great! :-*

I'm feeling the apartment woes, currently. Except my problem isn't just an issue of loudness but also WAY TOO MUCH ROOM REVERB. My place has high ceilings and a lot of reflective surfaces so things sound loud indistinct.

With that said... I'd love one of these little guys. They're so cool!

Thanks Steven! :)

Hmm...interesting problem you have there...not sure what to suggest to deaden the sound of the room... :(

I'm not sure either... Vocals and acoustic guitars sound great! Amps, not so much. Maybe with strategic placement of aesthetically pleasing rugs? I'll figure it out eventually. :)

Being the obsessive nut that I am, I wanted to also have some spare miniature tubes for the nano. I scored a few on ebay a while back, so I am now set for life :D

Image

But one last thing...how do you align the pins when changing the tubes?

Legend has it that a "pin alignment tool" was available from Zvex dealers. I looked online for months with no success.

In the end, I emailed the good folks at Zvex, which sent me one.

Image

I got some stickers too! :)

Image

I give you, the rarest ZVex-related object...the pin alignment tool...which is actually part of the PCB board! :D

I think this concludes the thread to all things Zvex Nano Amp.

Rock on!

Well, that's tipping me over the edge. I've got a THD 10" speaker and a guy who'll build me a pine and spruce cab for it. :fp:

Now the question- closed, open or semi-open back on the cab?

I do like open backed cabs actually, but the closed back 1x8 sounds great too. Since I want to get the sound level real low, it's probably best for me to go closed back...more focused sound that I can then attenuate. :)

Words to live by. Really avoiding dressing like them is also a strong priority if you don't want your bell bottoms, beads, man kaftans and floppy hat beaten to a pulp by the style Stasi. :)
