Team up to build new dressing room
Hey, just thought I'd throw this idea for anybody interested to discuss.
I'm a software developer and while I'm not doing any web these days, I can find my way if needed. So I thought what if we teamed up to do a new dressing room?
As far as I know, the dressing room consists simply of layering images, it's not very complex. We'd need one or a couple web developers (me included) and somebody to do the images. We could do a pilot with one model, the jazzmaster, for example, and then if we can assemble a small team that can handle this, then we can move on to other models and add more functionality.
I could probably lead this, as far as getting a "to do" list and delegating work. Unless somebody else would want to do this, of course.
Is anybody interested in working on this?

Re: Team up to build new dressing room
Are you thinking drag-and-drop like the old Tele and Strat dressing rooms that used to be floating around, or just switchers? The one we had before just used switching images, right?
Either way, it shouldn't be too difficult at all. The biggest problems I see with this kind of thing is usually in making sure the images being used are good quality, and that it's easy for non-developers to update the options.
Given all the images we need, you could probably hack it together in a weekend if you wanted to.
I'd be down for this, but I think a content manager / graphic artist will be more important at this point than another developer.

Re: Team up to build new dressing room
Also an option for body and neck binding would be so damn cool!
I'd love to see reverse headstocks as an option too!
And some more recent colours to be added to the palette in general. Thinking of the lovely (and also here on OSG well received) Sonic Grey.
and last but not least, a separate colour palette to choose the headstock - thinking of Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo signatures with another body colour...
Thank you!

Re: Team up to build new dressing room
I'd be up for it, but like you said, the main thing here is getting someone to do the imagery that we'd use. The programming isn't all that tricky.
It would be necessary to have a designer on board to do something decent. We should have a checklist of all the images we need (bodies, necks, pickups, switches, etc) and then with that material on hand, we could easily sort out the development.

Re: Team up to build new dressing room
I know we've got some damn good photographers on the site. Maybe start a list in the wanted section for pictures, maybe have them emailed to one person, or left in an OSG dropbox? We could start hacking away at the list of pictures, and then figure out the computer side of things later.
