New 1969 Fender Twin Reverb Day!

Post by HNB » Sat Apr 21, 2018 3:48 pm

I saw this at Guitar Center for around $600 which seemed killer. I did notice the replacement speakers, but it looks really good otherwise. I will post gut pictures and such and you guys can tell me if I did well or not. It is not the master volume one. (I did an audio demo that is uploading.)

$600 is a good price, the non-master volume silver face is considered better and more valuable than the master volume model (I owned a master volume one).
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Seems like a steal for a clean looking amp. Plenty of money left over for earplugs and back meds!

Are the white Mallory capacitors original or updated?

Ah so it does need a recap then? Dang. I was hoping it was updated. LOL They didn't look like the huge ones in my blackface Showman.

Those silver face twins keep popping up cheap in these parts, keep tempting me, $600 might get me to bite! Nice deal you got there.

For an amp of that age the power supply caps should be replaced regardless of condition, the rest can be tested in circuit and replaced as needed. Chances are most of the ones with DC on them will be leaking and need replacing.
Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

Master volume came in about 1972 so I'd say you have a 1971 or 1970 there - the chassis serial numbers are notoriously unreliable for dating.

Came here to say this. Great score! Should sound better than your Showman, too! :)

Even though I have zero use for an amp that loud, I'd love a clean Fender Twin Reverb. Really beautiful sounding amps.

I'm going to get another one some day. There's nothing like a Twin.

Definitely pre 1971 as stated above and quite honestly looks exactly like my 69!

There's something magical that happens when you strum an open chord. Everybody needs a Twin.
