I agree, if you look at photos of the sg-12a (one of my favorite guitars designs ever!) it looks really sick with the height difference on the spacing.
Dead_Poll - can we start talking about sg5a / sg12a bodies???
Yes... Yes we can! Send me a PM!
Depending on the dimensions the join line might have to be off centre or even slightly angled possibly...

Just do a sg-3c too haha.
I'd happily make traces off whatever you need, I think I own all models except for a basses and the sg-5-7-12.
But it looks like you already got the most things you need.

I had some prototype covers delivered today.
Ignore the roughness of the plastic. I had them printed in the cheapest option, since these are prototypes.
These are the SG3 version. As I posted earlier, there will be a SG12 version as well. No need to do test prints of both, since they use the same inner dimensions. The neck and bridge covers will come as a set, I'll make a range of materials available.
I'm looking forward to seeing the first build using Deed_Poll's bodies and my covers.

I like those, may have to order a set. Not sure what I'd do with them but I'm sure I'll figure it out...

Right - It's about time someone does a proper reissue...

Emailed Yamaha about that last year - this was the reply:
"Thank you for your interest in Yamaha Guitars, and your recent inquiry regarding the SG2 and SG3 models.
I don't think you will ever see reissues of the SG2 and SG3. Yamaha did do some SG5 and SG7 reissues, which were more popular models, but those were only on the market for a short time."
I guess they want to concentrate on the Revstar models

... which is exactly what makes them sought after... I know, I know - nothing to do about it. But a pitty for such a sexy design... *sigh* Well, I got mine.

Right - I'm willing to admit that, at least, they got the headstock right... Not saying it cannot be a great guitar, but to me, it looks more like "vaguely inspired" than reissue, not enough to share the model name. The vibrato bar alone just looks wrong, and the body shape misses nearly everything that makes it SG3 for me...
