Cosmic Ground – Legacy been out as a digital for a while but just out on vinyl on Deep Distance and indeed this does plumb the deepest distances. Starts off like a deep space requiem mass before suddenly firing up the pulsedrive to traverse those dark spaces between galaxies.
The Home Current - The Devil Finds Things For Idle Minds To Dwell On dropped with the Cosmic Ground, this time on Poly Technic Youth. Channelling mid to late 80's Chris and Cosey and on into fourth world synth exotica.

Interesting stereo mix too. But when it comes to "interesting", nothing tops Dave Hill!windmill wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 1:33 pmSlade - Coz I Luv You

Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

O Yuki Conjugate - Beyond Control this is a fucking magic and very welcome reissue. I know this band and I own records with other versions of some of these songs (see below) but I've never heard the original tape and it's a bit of dream to get this on tasty 10' inch, Brilliant post punk funk, much in the same vein as Savant.
O Yuki Conjugate - Beyond Control 3
Valet - Nature I think I picked something off this when I first bought it but Mrs S was playing it and I got to wondering why I'd seen no mention of her on OSG since I imagine it's right up a lot of folks street with it's blend of dream pop (one track is kinda like a cross between Seefeel and Torch Song), woozy MBV vocal intonation, retrofuturist waltzing and verbed out Americana in the early Tamaryn vein and out into the fringes Mazzy Star country.
Valet - Sunday
Five Times OF Dust - Computer Bank (The Floor Mix) harsher than the collected speeches of Margaret Thatcher and yet full on dancefloor madness.

Zola Jesus - Ash to Bone (Johnny Jewel Remix) pretty much what you'd expect but that's not really a criticism. Something of a trophy for Nika since Jewel doesn't really do many remixes. One of my kids is a shrine level megafan of Nika, she wasn't too bothered with Okovi but this spin off record has connected her again this morning.
Zola Jesus - Soak (Joanne Pollock Remix)
Gavin Friday - Angel (7 Inch Mix Edit) the youtoober has lopped a minute or so off this but you get the idea.
Cité Lumière - Calcul Olympique C'est chic little French waver. It's a petit 99 only 5 inch lathecut on Polytechnic Youth but it's on their forthcoming album.

That was great - I should have a listen to more Zola Jesus, I like the few songs I've heard from her but the bulk of her output managed to pass me by.
I remember she was featured on one a the song of the Only Lovers Left Alive OST, which I absolutely love.
The song quoted reminded me a lot of this gem from game Kentucky Route Zero (one of my favorite pieces of media ever, beyond the realm of videogames in general, just a wonderful work of art)
Kentucky Route Zero Soundtrack - Too Late to Love You
(the moment this song comes in in the game is beautiful, but the song is great on its own too)

Re: Song of the Day Thread
I think I like this more than the host album. To be honest since she started doing full albums I've found them hard to listen to in one sitting, I usually just do a side at a time. I think she's has a great and powerful voice but she's on 'FULL POWER MODE' a little too often for me, so she's best in small doses but when she's good shes often great. She was my 9 year old's favourite artist for a few years, she just latched on to her and to an extent we actually have some (actually very nice) Zola Jesus perfume in the house, some incense candle thingies and there's no getting round this...a shrine area in her bedroom but I guess that's no different than most girls her age with their One Direction shrines, give or take some eyeliner.Flurko wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 8:20 amshadowplay wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 5:51 amZola Jesus - Ash to Bone (Johnny Jewel Remix) pretty much what you'd expect but that's not really a criticism. I really like the La Vampires meets Zola Jesus record (LA Vampires & Zola Jesus - Vous) which is a little outside her comfort zone being a sort of blasted dancehall blues and she did some good cameos on Xui Xui side projectFormer Ghosts records and of course her banging vocal on Orbital's - New France (which I've heard blasting out the over 60's aerobic class at my local church hall).
I liked her remix/revocal of Blanck Mass.
