New Mustang Owner

Post by Mr. Jones » Sun Mar 11, 2018 7:09 pm

Hi all. I just picked up a Modern Player Mustang last week. It's gorgeous. (The bridge not so much)
I'll just be lurking around stealing some of your knowledge. I've been tweaking it and almost got it but may end up shortening the intonation screws.
I was trying to post a picture but I can't figure out how...

How did you do that? I was messing around and couldn't figure it out...
Anyway, yeah. I really like it. The p90's sound great too.
I was looking for something a bit thicker than singles but without a synthetic humbucker sound. This fits the bill.
The sound kinda reminds me of a slightly fatter Tele.
It's really nicely built and the price was pretty decent.
I still need to mess around with the bridge set up a bit but it's fine for now...

Oh you have to drag the picture into the website typing box before copying the link. Or just click with the right button and choose "open image in a new tab" then copy that link!

Congrats on the purchase again!

Hey there. I own a modern player too and honestly, I just bought a Warmoth mustang bridge to replace it, the one it came with is hopeless imo. Beautiful color by the way! I'm not sure if I like that or the Daphne more, but Daphne's what I got

congrats! well to me mustangs look like toys, so any light color looks good on them and daphne blue is no exception. Boy do I want a mustang... someday

They're toys for sure, part of their charm! Weird slinky feeling on the strings you can't get from a bigger instrument. It's worth it to get an older one or a reissue when you finally take the plunge, the new hardtails Fender makes don't feel like Mustangs at all, at least not to me. I actually traded a Chicago Music Exchange one for the Modern Player, no regrets at all!
