El84. If it were 6v6 or 6l6, I'd already own it. I played it with bass and guitar and it sounded OK. *shrug* My purchase would be more for resale.

Oops completely missed it on the OP.

These are great and definitely worth $400 for a vintage made in Canada amp. You can jump inputs for some crunch, use it with bass at lower volumes, or just get a nice clear bassman like tone. I have a reissue I use all the time because it has an attenuator. I’d definitely buy a vintage one for that price.

Okay! So I went back to the store last night and I couldn't see it in the bass section of the store, which is where it was previously. I was about to leave, but then I saw it tucked away next to some new Traynor amps in the guitar section. So I went over, grabbed a Tele (well, first I grabbed a new Mustang, but the wiring was broken and intermittent), and plugged in the reverb pedal I brought with me from home. Damn if it didn't actually sound good!

I asked one of the store employees about it and they said that the amp had just been traded in by the store's amp tech, and has been treated very well and maintained. So I bought it. I took it home and opened it up and sure enough, it has new tubes and the speaker has been changed out for a Eminence Legend 15" 150 watt speaker. Good enough for me!

Will I keep it? Maybe. It does sounds surprisingly good and while I'm in no position to be buying stuff, I have a lot to sell so I can kind of swing it as a purchase. If I decide against it, I can always either return it to the store and someone else will be really happy with a deal of an amp, OR I can easily recoup my costs by selling it locally.

I was thinking about putting in my not-currently-being-used vintage JBL 130F in the amp, but maybe not? The Legend seems pretty decent. Thoughts?

Well everyone, I took it back. My buying it wasn't getting enough excitement in this thread, so it had to go.

*Kidding, I still have it*

They're not an easy flip. You might have been stuck with it for a while.

I think I'll be fine. :)

Here's one reason why I decided to go with buying it. An identical Traynor YBA-2B was actually the first tube amp I ever played. It belonged to the dad of a friend and his dad, in a weird situation, wanted somewhere to stash his stuff. Welp, my brother and I being children/teenagers at the time, said SURE! So I had a lot of experience playing guitar, bass and drums on his gear, including what was essentially this amp. I've always wanted one again, but never really went for it, so now I'm glad I jumped on this one.

Kind of an nostalgic purchase, actually.

With that said, probably won't be keeping it. So if anyone wants it... PM me.

Yeah, I'm a nut. :D

It may or may not already be on the local classifieds. But hey, it satisfied an itch for a wee bit.

You know what would go well with that? A 60s Traynor.
