I built a Surfy Bear Reverb..
I built this today..
Reversed the polarity to use with a regular 9VDC..
Im still waiting for the tank but im pretty sure its wired properly... Well i, tested the board and it reads +9VDC
I fixed the pots so they don't look all wonky like in the pic
Not sure where ill put the tank yet..

Re: I built a Surfy Bear Reverb..
have you try it ? ,i use it more than my 63 reissue cause of the weight and also now i have put a surfy trem in
for the power supply normally it need 12 v but more important need 1 amp (if you power supply is not enought powerfull it will heat )
for trying 9v with less amp will work but not for long time use
where do you find the box you use ?

Looks cool tribi!
I really want to build one of these to use with my Vibro Champ and inbound 1481. Love small amps, but also love spring reverb....

Thx guys.
Ludobag, the box, is just a Hammond box I found at a local electronics store. I haven't tested it yet, the tank should be here at the end of the week.

With the right pedalboard it might be interesting to mount the tank under it. I guess you'd need to isolate it from some amount of vibration, but it would be fun to still be able to give it a kick for some dubby goodness.

Looks great, I'm going to order the kit/tank/power supply from them as soon as I get closer to getting to the house in the woods.

Thx Kd. Its a fun build.
Ludobag the box is one like in the link below. It was a lot cheaper here though..
Marquemoon, I think you're onto something there, maybe a custom pedalboard is what this needs...

Always been curious about these. Be sure to post the final results once you have the tank!!

Re: I built a Surfy Bear Reverb..
Subsribed!
Wanted to build one the whole autumn/winter!
But I had to earn my spurs in soldering first! And the power supply was some kind of a turnoff too for me.
Is the V.2. out yet?
Also wondered about the "mount it under my pedalboard" option - as I love those whiplash sounds my Vaporizer makes when I kick/punch it... what would it need to isolate some vibration? Should I hang it in there with another set of springs?

That looks great, Tribi!
I built one too. But mine sounds like ass, right now. I've not really had a chance to go back in and trouble-shoot it.

Re: I built a Surfy Bear Reverb..
Does it work??
Well... kinda? But it looks great!
But yeah. I dunno. The signal is weaker than unity... and it's got this weird, low distortion sound when notes are struck.
I started wading through the 100-ish page thread on the surf forum, but my eyes crossed and I put away the soldering iron.
Nothing jumped out at me and it appears everything is wired correctly... I guess I'll just have to go back and start shortening wires or something?
Maybe it's my power supply? Maybe it's the RCA connectors?
I dunno. I'll get to it - I just hate trouble-shooting.

Re: I built a Surfy Bear Reverb..
I have one of their older (bigger) PCB's which I have sent to a friend a while back to complete this project for me (I have no time for such projects at the moment ) . It's been a couple of months already and I should receive the finished "pedal" soon, maybe even this week

Re: I built a Surfy Bear Reverb..
I received mine today Easy to carry and great sounding (it can't beat my tube tank but it does beat any other reverb pedal that I have heard).
