Who can build me a Starcaster body?

Post by Waygorked » Sun Feb 25, 2018 8:51 am

I'm looking at a Starcaster project, possibly with a JM vibrato. It needs to fit a Strat neck. I'd settle for a Warmoth Mooncaster, but the body seems a bit too small. I can't find anyone else that builds a Starcaster body with a carved top. Are there any other options?

Sadly, the Rosser guitars one isn't a carved top:

Though he does offer them with the JM tremolo...

I was in touch with him a little while ago. He is apparently planning on offering a carved top model, and was going to have me be the first one. I may still take him up on it, but wonder if he is the only game in town.

Are these popular around here for builds? I’ve never seen his stuff before, the jm/jag prices are so low..

Not sure about how popular they are. I know at least one other poster has a non-reverse firebird from one of his bodies.

My non-reverse firebird body arrived yesterday and it's stunning, so I am pretty excited to see how it turns out. The price was certainly right as well.

There are some ebay Starcaster kits ... eg

In the realm of entire kits, there is also Pitbull guitars here in Australia...

Their kits are generally pretty nice.

Pitbull's Starcaster kit used to be similar to the ebay one I linked above, with a standard TOM style stoptail bridge (like the actual Starcaster). Their website above now shows it has a trapeze tailpiece, which makes it somewhat unique. One could of course drill for a stoptail if the centre block is wide enough.

I noticed the sweet price as well, anyone have any experience with the jm/jag bodies specifically?
