Bass VI neck builders
Looking to start a Bass VI build - but the only hangup is the neck.
I would like the neck to have binding - and preferably nice/roasted/figured neck wood and a nice dark rosewood board.
USACG is in a 'backlog' and not taking any orders currently. They also said they have one guy in house with binding experience and the neck would take over 10 weeks.
Warmoth is an option but their headstock design is too far from being accurate and would bother me - and they do not have a paddle option for me to locate someone to shape it.
So, I come to OSG and ask if someone knows of a builder who can meet the criteria of: Binding, nice/roasted/figured neck wood and a nice dark rosewood board, a close to original headstock shape.

It's a real bummer that Musikraft doesn't do Bass VI necks.

Also, Warmoth claims that their VI neck fits ONLY their VI body, though I don't see why unless they use a funky, non-standard size...

Re: Bass VI neck builders
I just purchase a Warmoth VI neck for a build by Dan (Deed_Poll). It's on its way to him now. I believe he has a USACG one on-hand, so he'll soon be able to answer whether their heels are the same.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 3:55 amAlso, Warmoth claims that their VI neck fits ONLY their VI body, though I don't see why unless they use a funky, non-standard size...

Did you look at the Warmoth neck? It's nothing like a Fender Bass VI neck:

Here's my USACG VI- sometimes in life you have to wait for the right thing to come along----
Also, I did a look up on ebay and found Bass VI necks with binding that sold for under US$175

Re: Bass VI neck builders
Man I have seen that picture at least two dozen times in 4+ years.... Did you ever finish it?
Or the XII? I've seen that picture a ton too.
And yeah, I could cheap out - but I don't want to, I'd like a very nice neck. I only have 2 guitars and 2 bass', and I always get very nice necks as I feel that is the most important aspect for me. I could just get a Squier bass VI neck... but I'd rather get a very high quality neck.
The binding desire is just to get it to be a period-specific.

Re: Bass VI neck builders
N0_Camping4U: I became a dad and I still travel internationally for work. I have a lot less time for guitars and taking guitar pics.
Sorry about the repetition! I like my birchwood dining table!
Guitars are strung (Bass vI in natural) and finished.
I took a look online for necks for you. The Warmoth is in no way compatible.
The Squier could be short term, and you sell it for what you paid.
Good luck.

Sweet! I've been wondering about that one. Make sure to post the results! I'd be very interested to know!!mbene085 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 5:36 amI just purchase a Warmoth VI neck for a build by Dan (Deed_Poll). It's on its way to him now. Re: Bass VI neck builders
That makes two of us! There are some Warmoth "fits our bodies only" parts that are total lies (like the mustang pickguards), and others (like the Jazzmaster pickguards and 30" 4-string bass necks) that are absolutely incompatible with Fender bodies. Hopefully I'll have the answer to this one soon!Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 4:37 pmSweet! I've been wondering about that one. Make sure to post the results! And it's still impossible to say where the table ends and the floor begins...
That's an awesome build. My VI project is still hanging about! I must finish it soon or else USACG VI necks may become too rare and valuable, and I'll be forced to sell it!

Re: Bass VI neck builders
Dude I wasn't hating on you! Congrats on being a father! I love your collection, and knowledge on these more odd-ball Fenders. I actually completed my Fender XII build with your help maybe a year or two ago. I haven't gotten around to posting pics, I will soon.mcjt wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 10:22 amN0_Camping4U: I became a dad and I still travel internationally for work. Dude no I haven't seen that, what's up with the one on the right? Custom build?
You have the best taste in gear lol. You and Rio always seem to have the stuff I'm after.
