Re: 60th Anniversary 58 reissue Jazzmaster
Can’t find any listings in English but according to 2 different French stores, it will have “Pure Vintage ‘58 pickups” 7.25 radius and vintage frets. I was really hoping this would be in Thin Skin spec. As excited as I am about the idea of black bobbin pickups as good as the ‘65s, I don’t think I want the vintage neck and frets. I find them personally difficult to play and don’t like fighting my guitar that much.
In other news there will also be a 60th anniversary MIM Jazzmaster (Pau Ferro). It will come in black, vintage blonde, Daphne blue, and fiesta red. No pictures or yet but it says 7.25 and medium jumbo frets and just “single coil Jazzmaster” pickups.

Okay, that is quite nice looking! Made in Mexico, pau ferro fretboard. Has a 7.25" radius but medium-jumbo frets (why??).jimutraa wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:42 pmet ceci aussi....

Will also be available in Fiesta Red, Black, and Vintage White. I couldn't see any mention of nitro lacquer there so I guess these will be poly finishes. With the B&B necks they seem quite similar to the TVL Jazzmasters, also made in Mexico.
Outside of a few changes (pau ferro, medium-jumbo frets) these look like pretty nice reissues of a late 60s Jazzmaster. The decal looks correct for '66.

Yeah! THIS is the kind of stuff Fender should be doing, not that idiotic "random mix and match" shit. Looks like there's only one toggle on the upper bout, not a full rhythm circuit- I wonder what it does?BearBoy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 11:58 amThat French shop also has another US 60th anniversary Jazzmaster listed:

Re: 60th Anniversary 58 reissue Jazzmaster
I'm pretty sure that had a 10" radiusBoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 8:23 amHope so. The only 7.25 JM I ever found playable was my Fender J Mascis in purple. The super jumbo frets made it far more playable than it should have been. My JM66B was so frustrating I got rid of it. Fuck little frets and round radiuses. I want to be able to play ALL styles on my main guitar, not just single string surf and spy.mbene085 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 7:36 amGood news then! Initial reports were that this has a 9.5 radius and 6150 frets like a Wildwood Thinskin. All historically accurate reissues with 7.25" and small frets are allegedly being moved to Custom Shop lines.
This was secondhand information when I heard it, so consider it unconfirmed (though the frets do look big in the photo).

Re: 60th Anniversary 58 reissue Jazzmaster
I'm glad to see fender actually trying things in the mid priced range. Overall that looks really cool. But what's with the positioning of that lever switch?BearBoy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 11:58 amThat French shop also has another US 60th anniversary Jazzmaster listed:

[rant] Stuff like that and the Parallel Reality series really make me question them as an organization and their collective logic. I mean, they're not building these things in a garage. These things go through R&D, internal testing, and marketing long before they see the light of day. And they just let shit like that slide through? Nobody throughout that process speaks up and says "I think this area here looks off, maybe we should take another pass at this". Either that or those comments are just ignored and the thing is pushed through. Either way, I think that's the root of their problems.
While design is very much about creating, it's just as much about editing. [/rant]
