Re: Fender American Original Jaguars and Jazzmasters
I wonder if Fender will start distributing the Japanese-made guitars in the USA again, since they maintain vintage neck specs (7.25" radius, vintage frets). Indonesian Fender offsets are not vintage spec in this regard, and among the MIM offsets only the lacquer/roadworn series are vintage spec. It will also be interesting to see if they cut out the MIM lacquer and roadworn series or if those continue on (or even expand!).

Re: Fender American Original Jaguars and Jazzmasters
My ideal jazzmaster
Alder body
C maple neck
Large colour pallate
Vintage spec electronics/pickups (no screwing about like the standard and am pro models)
Trem lock button
mustang bridge
10-46 standard gauge strings
Non matching or matching headstock, don't really mind
Block inlays
Pricing between £500-£700
Then I would buy.
I may as well just buy a classic player used or squier jmjm and upgrade it.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

It should be noted that I predicted that AV would be replaced or revamped very recently on this forum.

I’m not bent out of shape about them. But the color selection for the Jaguar is hilariously redundant again. When the Jags don’t sell, it will be because Jags aren’t popular according to Fender. In reality it will be because you can get sunburst, red, and surf green in a bazillion other cheaper models and a gazillion used models on the market. The world has already been flooded with Jags in these colors.

Re: Fender American Original Jaguars and Jazzmasters
They might have hit the marketing sweet spot on these. Time will tell. I assume Fender marketing has determined that they will gain more buyers who like the new radius/frets, than they will lose who are committed to vintage specs all the way. They seem to have leaned when they moved the tremolo closer on those other models that people are only willing to go so far to sacrifice traditional design for functionality.
It's getting to where CAR isn't even a custom color anymore. That said, the new colors are a step in the right direction. I suppose surf green on a Jag is a nod to the Surf crowd, and that color while available of more budget models hasn't been available on an American in a while I don't think. Aztec is a cool choice for a '50s model Strat. Very unusual. OTM for the Jazzmaster is really nice, as is Lake Placid for the '60s P bass. None of those colors are real common in the Vintage line. I'm also assuming they will be rotated to different models with perhaps new colors added and subtracted in the years to come.

I don't think the bitchfest is warranted and I don't want to assume that we think we know more than Fender what will sell or not. If the AV was selling well why on earth would they stop it? Remember these guitars went on some massive sales, practically begging to be bought.
Does Fender currently offer different specs? Yes. You want vintage, buy the classic series. You want modern features buy the classic player or American Pro. You want an amalgam buy the AO.
There is no pleasing you guys!

Can you guys imagine how dope it'd be if Fender released an actual Marauder and did versions of it for a few lines, it seems like the marketing would write its self almost.
It's my dream. See an actually "new" design that isn't just a vaguely different shape with like, tele hardware. Sucks it'll never happen.

Re: Fender American Original Jaguars and Jazzmasters
I am no fan of vintage spec fretboard radii.
For the record.
Some new, or at least different color options would be cool. But I am by no means offended by these. Price is goingyo be a problem for a lot of people but it comes as no surprise.

Re: Fender American Original Jaguars and Jazzmasters
Also all the talk about 7.5 radius and vintage frets is so weird to me. I can tell when I'm playing on jumbo frets but radius seems the same on every guitar I've played save for like, some wack old Japanese shit
It does seem weird though that they aren't gonna sell year specific reissues anymore though

The Classic series has a Pau Ferro fretboard though, so it's hardly a replica of a vintage guitar.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 12:42 pmI don't think the bitchfest is warranted and I don't want to assume that we think we know more than Fender what will sell or not. Fender also doesn't make them, even Thin Skins, with the same nitro as they did in 1964 - you're never going to have an absolutely period-correct vintage guitar.
Pau Ferro would be fine if it was darker - Reverend and Ibanez use something else that's been darkened and looks as good as rosewood IMO.
