The JM is actually a way better model compared to the Pro series. Suits my style, and since I’m probably the only member here who doesn’t like matching headstocks... I really like this!

UK street price around £1650 it looks like on the American Originals:

Yep, those bevels are a giveaway. Good eye, thanks!
Cheers. FWIW I found another pic that shows the bevels more clearly.

Anyway, the AVRI 62 pups are excellent. They are bassier and "grittier" than the 65s. The 62 Bridge pup is definitely better than the 65's, maybe that's one reason why they went back to them. Still, if I had to choose I'd take the 65 set because the neck pickup on that is incredible, definitely the best I've ever heard on a reissue Jag and better than many (but definitely not all!) of the vintage Jag's I've heard or played.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Fender found a few cases of these pups in their warehouse, left over from 2012, and decided to put them in the first year or two of these Jags just to get rid of them. After they run out maybe they'll start putting the AV65 pups in. They do this regularly with the Wildwood thin skins, especially the telecasters. Just using up old parts in the warehouse. Now that this is a generic "60s" model they can swap parts around over time if they want to.

Interesting price point. Certainly reduces the appeal of the American Pro line!

So, is the Meteora something like a Bass VI or just a guitar? I saw a picture of someone holding it, and that neck looks WIDE.

The Fender website has had mistakes in specs before, I'd say it remains to be seen when they actually start shipping.

There's been no problem getting new '62 Jaguar pickups even after the AV65 came out, I got another pair just last summer.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Also zero chance that I assume they're only $2000 until that's officially announced.
It's $1999

Round laminated rosewood necks, I'm guessing due to material scarcity/regulation. Someone could make some money refinishing headstocks to match these colors.

Jeez - those guitars are heinous. Reminds me of the Epiphone "Jazz Bass" kitbashing:

The pictures don't lie, man. Those are 62s. All the shops are advertising it correctly as such, because that's what's on their spec sheet from Fender. The below example is from Sweetwater.

So the 60th anniversary 58 reissue will have black bobbin pickups(Pure Vintage ‘58) but vintage spec neck and frets so I’m going to get an American Original personally. A sunburst in Thin Skin spec for $300 less works for me. All 3 colors look good though I think. There is also going to be some kind of anniversary MIM Jazzmaster (Pau Ferro) in Black, vintage blonde, daphne blue and fiesta red. Haven’t seen pics yet so I’m not sure about matching headstocks or if they have B&B or anything
