These are really interesting. The Jaguar Strat is quite literally a Frankenstein guitar. But I’m digging that “Jazz Tele” thing. Maybe mod it with some WRHB.

The Jaguar Strat's pickguard and lower plate are a hideous mismatch to the body. Wow. Just...wow.

The Jazz Tele is way more tasteful by comparison. Interestingly, that pickguard looks as though it's designed with the intention of there being an f-hole. If they release a Thinline Jazz Tele, that'll be pretty damn rad.

Also, why did they give a proper vintage trem spacing to the Jazz Tele, but the modern/CP spacing to the Jaguar Strat?

I could get down with the tele, but not at over 2k USD!
The Strat Jag is a mess aesthetically. It reminds me of this vox, but with even less style.

I like the tele, the jag-strat is awful.

Honestly I love these. Something fender should have offered a long time ago. The most useful trem in my opinion. Should be offered on all Fenders.

Really like that strat surprisingly.

I haven't looked at prices yet, but I would hope they'd stay affordable.

Because that would require some level of consistency and forethought/planning. The no-rhyme-or-reason, WTF?! approach is more edgy and satisfying, studies show.

That JagStrat is somehow even uglier than the Meteora (which, until this morning, was the most unattractive thing I've ever seen from Fender). Congrats, guys! Leo would be proud. :D

I guess I shouldn't squawk too hard. Just two days ago I was praising the departed Pawn Shop line in another thread for its daring, kitschy offerings. It seems Fender is secretly carrying the tradition on, just in a more puke-inducing way.

I can’t get on with the stop bar and tailpiece on Telecasters. I feel as though these models are just haphazardly slapped together. The Pawn Shop series seemed to be more thought out than these models. I love the J style tremolo system of a Telecaster. But why change the pickguard and control configuration? But someone will buy them, for sure.

A Les Paul, Tele Deluxe and Cabronita had a threesome (and somebody got pregnant).

Although, of everything pictured above, this is the one I like the most (probably because of the color, because I'm not a humbucker, lots-of-knobs and/or binding kinda guy).

These are all so weird. And not "good", Pawn Shop series weird. But "we got the new intern drunk, blindfolded him and turned him loose on the factory floor to see what would happen" weird.

I'm really, really sick of Fender slapping Gibson crap on their guitars. Those are PAFs with 3+3 screw coils...if you want HBs, put the WRHBs on there because at least they're Fender. If you want a hardtail tele, how about a chopped-off tele bridge, which is a Fender design, instead of the TOM (which is THE WORST hardtail design still being inflicted on modern guitars, and it isn't even Fender's!).

4-knob layout, PAFs, and a TOM. The only thing "cabronita" about this is the pickguard. And at least Gretsch is in the extended FMIC family, plus filtertrons are incredible pickups. I hate seeing Gibson stuff on a Fender when they have their own parts that would work even better.

Yeah I think i just like that blue color more than anything. Would be better with a JM style trem of course. Maybe put a Duesenberg Les Trem 2 on it?

I dunno, I'll never buy any of these (definitely not new)... but I'm getting ideas for builds

That's the thing...for those of you who have the skills, talent and equipment to build your own guitars - and if you like the above designs, but wish a few things were different/tweaked - you're much better off rolling your own, just the way you want it, instead of paying $1,500+ for something that's both ugly and not outfitted to your liking.

Now here's the thing: the above craziness is exactly the sort of stuff that would be cool to see in the "customize yourself"/builder section at Fender.com. Nearly everyone in this thread is saying "eh, I kinda like it, but I wish it came with [fill in the blank] instead...".

Well...?

If folks had the option to put together their own Jazz Tele, Meteora, etc. from a preset, reasonable bag of options (pickups, bridge/tremolo, body color and fingerboard choice...which seem to cover everything talked about here), then that opens the line up a bit. Fender then doesn't have to get it "perfect" on their one-and-only variant...provide the nutty body shape/starting point and let customers configure - and pay for - their preferred setup. Probably sell a few more that way.

This sort of platform - goofy and experimental - makes much more sense than offering customizable, build-your-own Strats and Teles (when Fender already offers 638 variations of each already).

Not a fan of any of these, unfortunately, and I hate to be "that guy" because I do keep an open mind to any changes and funkiness that are incorporated into designs. But, these are terrible.
1. Strat jag's aesthetics are just so off. The concept there is actually pretty cool, but the execution is sub-par
2. I think the tele jazzmaster frankenstein thing looks even worse than the strat jag. That tremolo looks absolutely horrible where it is. It needs wood behind it. To me, it just looks clunky and haphazard. Hard no. (again, interesting idea, poor execution)
3. I actually like the tele deluxe, but really really hate the tune-o-matic stop tailpiece on it. Just looks bad. Everything else is attractive

It just blows my mind that in this day and age, Fender and the likes can't go online and see what small, boutique makers are doing and *not copy* but actually study the way they use angles, curves etc to make both an interesting as well as aesthetically pleasing guitar. Obviously there isn't a lot of care that goes into these designs, just "how can we milk a trend?"

There's my 2 cents that no one asked for.
