62 Olympic White Jazzmaster ID:
I got offered this 62 jazzmaster for trade in custom colour olympic white with matching headstock and it looks authentic to me (still waiting for more photos for confirmation). The guitar is a 2 owner guitar with the second owner telling me the bands the original owner was in. I have since found photos of the owner in the 60s all the way up to around 10 years ago leading me to believe this is an original olympic white guitar.
Thanks in advance for any help.

That is -by far- the darkest neck wear that I've seen, but that is certainly one gorgeous Jazzmaster!
Olympic White w/'tort of that sort is a combination that's hard to beat.

Surely that's not neck wear? Is it?!
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I have a 1976 Gibson explorer in trade. Just wanted to post to make sure everything seems right. The case in the original Australian issue Stamford case. Cheers!kosmonautmayhem wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2018 5:13 amThat is a beauty. Love the guard!

Go for it! Looks good to me, from the pics. Was going to point out the case, but if its not in the states that one makes sense.
Not sure about the super dark neck "wear" though. It's the darkest I've ever seen. I would want to inspect in person. Then I could look at the paint issues going on at the headstock.
Still super super cool guitar. Nice early matching headstock custom color.
Is this slab board (early 62) by chance?

Thanks! Yeah that's what I thought too. I'll be careful about the neck wear. It's a September veneer board but that doesn't matter to me.

Re: 62 Olympic White Jazzmaster ID:
Does the previous owner of this guitar happen to be David Rae?
The reason I'm asking is that I played with someone in Sydney Australia by that name in 1970 who had a white Jazzmaster.
I was 16 years old & all could afford at that time was a second-hand sunburst 1963 Telecaster with a Bigsby & a black-face Fender Vibrolux Reverb!!
How I wish I could 'go back' to those days!!

looks like the magnet pole pieces have been chapped up to mimic the fretboard radius, on the bridge pickup......and in the old pic that guitar does not have a matching headstock - it does look like someone did it later.

Yeah, the decal on the headstock looks to be in nearly new condition, while the paint all around it has a somewhat fake relic look to it.andrewaward wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 12:45 pmlooks like the magnet pole pieces have been chapped up to mimic the fretboard radius, on the bridge pickup......and in the old pic that guitar does not have a matching headstock - it does look like someone did it later.

Not sure about the previous owners name but ive been trying to find that out. So the consensus is the headstock wasnt always matching. I had real trouble with the older pictures telling that.

I certainly can't tell whether the headstock in the B&W photo is natural or white.
