I haven't tried one but I know 4 or 5 bassists that love the Broadcast. One guy has two of them he likes it so much. The clips they've recorded sound great. I'd post them but they're on Talkbass and I've been banned.MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 1:54 amI haven't tried it but I expect it's an interesting fuckest-uppest fuzz in high gain mode.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2017 5:36 pmEver try it on bass? Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
The dirt pedal I used most in 2017 was my IdiotBox Blower Box followed closely by the IdiotBox Blasteroid.
The Blower Box is a heavily modified Rat. I use it mostly for low to medium gain stuff. The treble and low controls are great for dialing in a slightly dirty dub sort of sound at low gain.

The Blasteroid is now discontinued. It is a clone of the Graphic Fuzz. It has a couple of quirks but to me they are worth it. It has to be isolated(power)and it works but does not sound as good after buffers. But it has a really thick sometimes synthy, heavy fuzz that sounds amazing and it has a unique character with the way the tone control works. It's some sort of weir resonant filter. It feels like it adds lows on the lower settings and gets choked, gated and almost like a ringmod at higher settings. Still available from Prymaxe.

I just received a Pickletech Meg Berkatron yesterday and that thing with see heavy use in 2018. It's amazing. Thick, heavy, splatty fuzz with some crazy and very useable oscillation and lazer gun features.

I use all these pedals with my Squire VI or my Epiphone Ripper reissue. They work great on bass.

Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
For most of 2017 guitaring it's pretty easily the Klones (Tumnus, Archer Ikon, Rockaway, or ARC Effects V2 depending on which board I'm using).
Late additions have been the Nocturne Mystery Brain and Atomic Brain that seem most likely to compete very hard for this position in 2018, those 2 paired up w/ the Vintage Rat and Modele B on the moderate sized board or fed by the Nocturne Ubangi Stomp (a really nice low-ish gain Rat w/ Metal can LM308) on the latest Nano+ setup seem to be just about all I want to play through since I got them.
For bass it's been the Ampeg SCR-DI or Analog Preamp w/ the ARC Effects Soothsayer for heavier clipping.

Archer IKON and Strymon Deco. I'll break out my '86 RAT and Yardbox fuzz, too.

well, i used to use my homemade IC muff more than anything, but this year ive almost exclusively been playing an MXR fullbore metal. not because its a great pedal, just because ive been playing more in that genre this year.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

This year it's been a Golden Plexi by Tone City.
Next year ..? Hopefully none, since I'm planning getting a new amp that'll cover most sounds I'm after.

Been trying to move away from Muffs a bit. Been into a Superfuzz vibe (Buzzz) and Distortion + (Gray Channel).

Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
I'm kind of surprised that it's been so embraced by bassists coz I find it has some subtle buzzy muddy ghost notes thing on the lower strings. Not enough to bother me when playing live but I kept it off for my clean sound in the studio.CHILDISHGAMBINO wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 8:28 amI haven't tried one but I know 4 or 5 bassists that love the Broadcast. Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
Currently my board has a BB preamp and my old Rat that I’ve had forever, but for most of the year I was running an all Boss board (a dare that went too far) and with that I was mostly using a Blues Driver (actually, 2 were being used for awhile).
While I prefer the BB (or my Klone, or OCD) for low/medium sounds through most of my amps, I still use the Blues Driver with my JC-77.

Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
The Lovetone Big Cheese has been my most used for the last couple years. I can do about everything that I ever need to with just that pedal and my guitar's volume control. The rebuilt BMP (green Sovtek bubble font circuit) is a close #2 as far as most used.

Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
Just a boring modern Proco RAT. Nothing fancy about it, but it gets the job done.
I'm thinking of getting some pedals next year though, maybe a Crowther Hotcake and an RSH-03?
