That patent number set is readily available from one of the repro decal makers, FWIW. The missing paint is odd. It's almost like someone did a few coats with the pickguard shield on, and one with it off. I guess if the shield has paint on it, that would be a good indicator that it's a refin. It's a really gorgeous Jag.

well yes and no.... and I am only going by the photos in this thread
The way the white paint has not aged under the decal looks correct and the way the gold colour has oxidized looks correct.
Repo decals that I have seen that are printed on modern printed and not the old die-cut method of decals have not had the oxidized colour of the gold part at all
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Ok team - I found this super interesting '66 Jaguar locally and am really thinking about it. It's a FEB66 build with dots and binding. Its in Olympic White which matches my '65 dots and binding JM. It'd be really cool to have the pair (plus, I'm without a Jag at the moment). The only real draw back is that it has the F style tuners, which I absolutely loathe, but I could make do. I figure if the guitar is lightish and has a decently sized neck I'll go for it. Oh and look at the neck! Does this look all good to you? Has weird wear on the bottom, supposedly because it was used as a decorative piece for a number of years.

It looks like a refinish to me. The body has a void in the Olympic white where the rectangular shielding plate would be (and looks yellow-stained like a sunburst in that location). I have not once in my life seen a Fender finish done with the shielding plate in place, and the shape and size of that void is way too perfectly matched to the shielding plate to be a coincidence.
There's definitely some kind of weirdness going on there, but that looks like darkening to the clear coat over the olympic white paint that's on the rest of it, not yellow stain over sunburst, imo.

I see nothing that makes me doubt the finish , I agree with what has been said about the area between the pickups , not void of finish , but since I don't know what a correct term for it would be I'll make one up and say its electromagnetic discoloration.
I've seen the same effect on the back of a lot of white pickguards , especially around the switches mounted on Mustangs and Duo sonics.
The neck looks actually pretty thin , considering how much downslope it has from the heel , I'd guess it's somewhere around 90 at the twelfth.

I just went to check it out in person... Simply awesome Jag. The finish is definitely original looking. Thinking about it...

I'm no expert. But isn't the paint line where the paint meets the rosewood fingerboard on the headstock odd looking? From the close up photo, it doesn't look like a straight line at all, it's sort of jagged.

Maybe that's totally normal for that period. But it just jumped out at me.

Whether it's a refinish or not, it looks awesome.

Here's the same area from my '66 D&B JM:

I bailed :fp: . Sick guitar, but I just have moved every Jag I've owned (a '63 and two '66s). Will make a cool guitar. The headstock line looks kind of sketchy but everything else about it looks normal. My '65 Olympic white JM has a super clean headstock line too.
